The World's Fastest High-Speed Trains

Niall McCarthy

Oct 2, 2019

The ranking of high-speed trains below is first done on maximum operating speed (km/h).
If the maximum operating speed (km/h) is the same for two or more trains, then the trains are ranked on record speed.

The data was sourced from The International Union of Railways report (updated March 28, 2019) and the research was compiled in June 2019.

I don't think KSA has the technology to make train let alone a fast train. So this article is incorrect.

There is not much to understand about high speed train technology. Even a kid understands magnetic levitation. It is not a technology that any country hides or anything. Sure, it takes a hell lot of time and effort to design and develop a high speed train, but technology is not the constraint. I would say it is several times harder to develop something like TGV than a maglev. If they reached 575km/h on rail, that's a real feat, must be a brilliant design.

The real constraint countries have to make their own maglev system is the massive infrastructure spending and running costs, not to mention no surety whether the project will be profitable. Most countries even have trouble making their normal trains run profitably, let alone high speed rail.
