What's new

The world is lurching towards the U.S

It was, is and should hopefully remain.. the land of opportunity for all Mankind.

Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!

Fill the usa up to the brims to overflowing
Still a long way to go to reach 1.3 billion
I can assure you their saints and sages, live or dead, will begin to suffer immense spinal pains which will be intensified with each addition of immigrant beyond the 400 million (adjustable) mark. :cheesy:

US is a RAPIDLY declining power. It's future is extremely bleak but some people still want to live there because its not overcrowded like China or India.

China can now provide what America used to provide the world in terms of production, markets, direct investment, portfolio investment, capital market financing, bank loans, aid, use of renminbi, civilian technology, military weapons, etc.

US continues to be an exceptional country in terms of innovation and leadership.

Not only is the US the biggest military power many times larger than number two Russia, the US dollar is the world's unchallenged currency which is used for the bulk of international trade and as reserve currency by central banks around the globe. The US is the world's largest economy and the biggest trading partner of most of the countries of the world. The US also boasts the world's top entrepreneurs, most innovative companies and bulk of the top universities with the lion's share of Nobel prizes. The US leadership in wide range of technologies and industries is unquestionable. And the US lead is growing, not shrinking with new developments.

US immigration policy is the key to its vitality and leadership.

US attracts the best and the brightest from around the world to Silicon Valley.

The U.S. Census Bureau has recently reported that the United States has reached a historic tipping point -- with Latino, Asian, mixed race and African American births constituting a majority of births for the first time. Minorities made up about 2 million, or 50.4%, of the births in the 12-month period ending July 2011. The latest figure was up from 49.5% reported in the 2010 census.

I have personally witnessed Silicon Valley's racial mix change dramatically over the last several decades. When I arrived here to join Intel in 1981, there were few non-whites in the Valley. In fact, I was the only nonwhite person in a picture of the six-member award winning Intel 80386 CPU design team which was published by the PC Magazine in 1988.

My experience of the demographic changes in this high-tech valley is not just anecdotal. It's supported by data compiled by the local San Jose Mercury newspaper in 2010. The data shows that 49% of Intel employees are now Asian, a full 7% more than whites. In Silicon Valley, the difference is even more pronounced with Asians accounting for 53.9% of the employees versus 37.6% white workers.

With Asians accounting for just 15.5% of the high-tech work force nationally, Silicon Valley's high-tech racial mix is also very different from the rest of the country. Silicon valley's employee pool also differs in terms of under-representation of Blacks, Hispanics and women relative the national averages.

Among Asian-Americans, Pakistani-Americans are the 7th largest community in America, according to a report titled "A Community of Contrasts Asian Americans in the United States: 2011" published byAsian-American Center For Advancing Justice. Pakistani-American population has doubled from 204,309 in 2000 to 409,163 in 2010, the second largest percentage increase after Bangladeshis' 157% increase in the same period.

^^^^ if the land mass of usa and its resources are feeding only a meagre 300 mio+ people, and their land has been free from any massive destruction caused by external invasion then you can see how they manage to grow so much to this day

There no argument they are still the leader on many fronts. But as I said they are reaping immense benefits from relative homeland peace, abundance of per capita resources and they are setting the priority of exploiting, by hook or by crook, of the resources from rest of world

It is still early to tell if they can sustain, as I said in the above post, after the adjustable (upwards) 400 million demographic mark :cheesy::dirol:

I don't know if isolating the world because of ideological dogma, and then establishing rudimentary diplomatic relations counts as the world "lurching" towards you. It reminds me of a patient in a psych ward experiencing delusions of grandeur when the mere psychiatrist comes to visit.

In any case, I can't see what bearing it has on the OP that two foreign relations thawed their bilateral relations. After all, India has had relations with Cuba and the US for some time now.

We are happy for now with our isolation of the eclectic group of countries, the world's who's who of troubled nations, that you lurch towards.
