the problem is that govt is only focusing on taxation for improving economy and ignoring other economic factors which play important role in economic growth and revival,taxation is one component of economic policy but other economic factors are also important .Here our govt is only copying taxation system of western countries but ignoring other economic measures taken by western countries so there is high chance of failure if such imf appointed people run our economy

It's depressing when you think about it. Where is the innovation? The smart ideas? There's nothing. So far the only positives have been the foreign policy and the drive against corruption,, especially top level corruption.

I try to be optimistic, but in many cases its new bottle old wine.

Sounds great but how sustainable is it long term? What deep seated expertise can be gained in a 12-36 month course? We should be encouraging the development of our IT faculties in universities to make computer science sources to make such modules as core teaching. We should be teaching our school kids to program.

People are expecting a lot from a ten month old government that has inherited a debilitated and paralysed economy. It has taken it uptill now to stabilise the economy from a position of imminent default. It will make mistakes but the encouraging thing about it is that it trying to tackle the problems it faces from it's roots rather than simply applying cosmetic solutions that look good in the short term but are essentially ineffective in putting the economy onto a path of sustained growth. Someone sometime has to do this or else we will forever be reliant on loans and charity while our neighbours head off into the sunny uplands of prosperity.
Things will get more difficult before they get better but they will get better if we hold our nerve.

Copy pasting IMF's template will only make things worse. Over taxation and high inflation will result in stagnation in economic activities, thus leading to drop in GDP.

Only Reza Baqir's performance will be keenly watched. Hafiz Sheikh has been MoF before and his performance was not satisfactory.If both fail this time, expect lot more turbulence.

The problem of this government is they expect miracles using the same old means and tools. Imported technocrats may have the knowledge, competence and skills but they are ignorant of ground realities, they are insensitive to sufferings their harsh choices and recommended policies would bring. And above all they don't have a personal stake in Pakistan. Tested and tried methods, processes and people won't bring you any miraculous results. You will end up giving space and opportunity to offspring of the corrupt dynasties and their beneficiaries.

Pakistan's prosperity and survival lies only in exploiting its resources, you can increase taxation ten folds, but the only sustained long lasting growth and stability would come from promoting a culture of domestic R&D and extracting max benefit from local resources. From ocean belts, deserts, heritage, agriculture, minerals, forests to highest mountains and peeks and manpower ...... I don't know how else and with what else Al Mighty could have blessed Pakistanis with.

We could have gone for a very simple basic tax law while taxing the local populace, it could have been easier to ask everyone to pay tax (which they already do) instead keeping that old technique of making it easy for tax evaders. What you did has generated support for tax evaders, they are easily blackmailing again. Unless a uniform tax is introduced for every Pakistani citizen ........ don't expect any miracle happening out of unjust and unequal taxation system. Riyasat e Medina guaranteed fair and equal treatment for and of everyone.

The only thing this current government can be credited with is improved international standing and goodwill.

The problem with this govt is that apart from Imran Khan its full of scumbags, idiots and turncoats. What on earth can Fawad Chaudhary do for Science? Can anyone stand listening to Firdous bhai? Khattak is completely useless. Qureshi is spending all his time scheming how to become CM Punjab. JKT is scheming how to be the shadow CM Punjab. Sheeda Talli is only good for insulting Indians. Murad Saeed...omg don't even get me started.

Nothing will change whilst IK doesn't have ministers and advisers up to the himalayan task that is changing the course of Pakistan.

Their is slim hope of revival via the current economic plan or model but honestly that is the best plan we have at our disposal. The kind of economic mess that we are in with high inflation, circular debt, fiscal/current account deficit and also the import/export trend we need two things
1- prayers
2- divine help

it would be a miracle for us to come out of this sh*thole in next 3/4 years.
