The Island Dispute No One Is Talking About

While the South China Sea and Senkaku Island disputes are all the rage these days, South Korea and Japan's conflict could be equally consequential.

Interesting. This has just happened but mostly ignored. I guess China captures most of the headlines these days, LOL. Nice window of opportunity for smaller nations to fish in the muddy waters.

I wish the dispute is to be solved peacefully and China-Japan and SK will form the world's new dominant economic center of gravity. When Northeast Asia is at peace and strong and dominant, the world is at peace.

Japan urges S. Korea to 'return' disputed islands

02-23-2015 10:34 BJT

Japan has again urged South Korea to "return" a group of disputed islands in the Sea of Japan. Seoul controls the islands, which it calls Dokdo. They are known in Japan as Takeshima.

At a ceremony to support Japan's claim on the islands, scuffles broke out between Japanese right-wing supporters and South Korean activists. The fighting came as a high ranking Japanese government official reiterated Tokyo's position that the islets are part of Japan's sovereign territory.

South Korea, which stations coastguard officers on the tiny islands, has called the Japanese claim "ludicrous". Relations between the two countries are at their lowest in years, partly due to the territorial row. The island dispute is linked to Japan's harsh rule over the Korean peninsula between 1910-45.

We support each other, Korean public unfurled a banner that says " Diaoyudao is China's". Japan is very isolated in its immediate neigborhood.

It will, eventually, be solved. It is inevitable.
