Okay may be(and a big may be) China will overtake the USA and becomes the largest economy in the world while by 2023 while India may still be a 3rd world country but that doesn't change the scenario that by 2050 we'll the 2nd largest economy both in PPP and in Nominal terms after China and the funniest thing is that the entire economic community knows this and hence every now and then they come up with these claims(although a few of them are indeed ridiculous) that India will be a world power by 2030 or for say 2040.The truth is that the wheels of Indian economy has already started moving forward and nobody in this God's green Earth can stop this behemoth from moving forward unless India ceases to remain an Union in the near future(the possibility of which is remote to say at least). No matter how much political instability comes in our way our dynamic population and the adequate resources will ensure that our economic wheel moves forward in a constant pace.So it may seem to you that India is developing very slowly and it's next to impossible for us as country to become one of the leading economies in the world but believe me,we'll get there in time. Our development may not seems to be like the Chinese one but we'll continue to develop at a pace which suits our country until our economy reaches it's full potential. Now it may happen within 2040 if we can perform according to our potential or it may take some more time but that won't change the fact that India will be the 2nd largest economy by the first half of this century.Pretty good read. Basically, India's poor HDI, lack of infrastructure, corruption, internal division, as well as the lack of a positive image abroad is antithetical to India's goal of being a great power.
India wants to be viewed in the same stature as China, but is unable to. Their only similarity is in population.
China has a great image abroad (to the developing world, the developed world tends to have bad view of China) due to China's unprecedented economic miracle.
When people visit cities like Shanghai, or Beijing, they see a first world city that rivals (or even surpass) other first world cities such as London, Paris, Berlin, Moscow, Tokyo, New York, Sydney, ect. India has nothing of that sort. When people visits Mumbai, they only notice the slums and absolute poverty of the city.
At the current rate, by the time Xi Jinping leaves office in 2023, China will have the largest economy, mostly hunger free, near 100% literacy rate, world class infrastructures (advanced rail/airports, water desalinization plants, cleaner energy, north south water transfer, skyscrapers everywhere), the 2nd most powerful navy, ect.
India will still be essentially a third world country.

Apparently sh!ting in public, whether on the street or the internet, is your thing.
Yups...we love canines.I suppose that the reason you Indians turn up here on PDF in droves

You don't have any idea regarding the basics of Economics kiddo,i guess your masters at the CCP didn't teach you anything about this particular subjectpaulez! do us a favour and stop bullshitting with that PPP.
PPP means nothing at this level.
1 country consists of as few as 10 people - 10 engineers and advanced factory machine operators who can design a machine, make the machine, and make all the components of the same machine as well. they produce total PPP, say worth $1,000
another country consists of 200 people, most of them illiterate. What they do is that they can dig out some potatos from the earth, fry curries and sell curries and potatos to each other every day and night, generating total PPP of $3,000.
which country is more powerful?
!You're going way beyond your pay grade kiddo, maybe it's time for you to leave serious matters like these to more educated members in this forum, will ya
