The best idea is govt should take those volunteers to Indian Army... Really proud of them...

When a country is under enemies aggression the citizens of that country who are fit to fight can join the war as per the international Law. So i think there is no need for a seperate milita army.

Dudes im just jokin....... but the thing is tht raising a civilian militia to fight an imaginery attack by China? i mean common...... they could have raised a few of these in troubled areas of assam or somethin to fight maoists and naxalites instead of arming young men to fight an imagination....... tht could be lethal.

Though I like the idea, I am against forming the militia. These guys are right but they can perform their duty by joining the Army. We already have a Gorkha Regiment which will be more than happy to welcome these guys. Civilians with assault rifles is not a good idea. We can see what's going on in Pakistan.

Raising militia army to protect remote areas is a good idea. But is India at war to do that? I don't think so. Indian army is capable of defending its Territory. But still having a militia army in those places is a good idea because they know the place better than others

Thats a very bad idea.Reasons being:

1. There is no order
2. No well-defined chain of command.
3.None to report to : basically these people are as good as "Loyal to no one".
4.No unified agenda.These people are the best judges of their own will and hence free to do whatever they like.
So they are like hired guns,armed and dangerous and yet without any authority to control.

Such a situation is tantamount to anarchy,and hence undesirable.
We have the brave Gorkhas already serving in the army as well as the local Police.Its simply fine that way.

a well armed militia + lot of arms + NO ENEMY TO FIGHT = perfect recipe for disaster

Regular army is disciplined and follows the chain of command, and when a militia is formed they break the chain of command and may become hostile. Arming civilians is like arming kids which will take a heavy toll on life. We do not want such thing. and the one who said that he want a army of his own to defend the country is either emotional or giving a cheap stunt at the public to prove his patriotism.

I don't see any harm giving them some military training so that if ever s**t hits the fan we have instant recruits who can join the frontline with minimal training...but absolutely no arms in their hands until they each the frontline.

Gorkha Janamukti Morcha is already a pain for peoples in the hills, giving them access to weapons will further deteriorate the situation. Even the educational institutes and offices are in shambles in the hills.

We have a regular army and a reserve backup, yet if you want to train civilians we can ask them to join NCC dude. If you still insist that people be trained in arms, then you are demanding that civilians must be prepared for any aggression and if such aggression happens normal training on arms won't help win such a war, Wars are win with strong troop moral and not based on how my man power you have.
If this has to be done, then we have to change our policy so that every able Indian should serve the regular army for at-least 2 to 3 years as in Israel.
