Considering that we have a good share in UN peacekeeping operations, the 'cream of UN peacekeepers', I'd expect more security benefits from the US.

Just be patient mate. All that is going on now in Bangladesh is just a sad comedy show. Yes, now one has to pay 70% down-payment to buy a car while bank provides the rest of the 30% for a car loan. Yes, it is that bad.

North-East is connected to Indian Mainland via Siliguri corridor.It is not that we are dependent on Bangladesh to supply our army.For commercial purposes the problem is that the Siliguri-Corridor route is circuitous and imposes extra transport and opportunity costs (Time,Depreciation of perishable goods).Bangladesh route would be suitable for Bulk commercial transport.It is not required for military transport which is pretty much negligible compared to Commercial transport.

Also Indo-China border is closer via Siliguri corridor.It would take weeks more to supply army via chittagong route.
