An interesting trend that I've seen this year is that the Afghan online forums that used to be nice and filled with juicy hate filled vitriol against Pakistanis seem to be vanishing.

Amongst the most popular, afghanforums.com seems to have breathed it's last (at least for now) -- the site has been down for weeks now: http://afghanforums.com -- the forum was the home of the likes such as Mano, GulBili, IndianMuslim, etc. (Mano lived in the US, organized talks on Afghanistan and hated Pakistanis, and sadly was banned .... ohhh how much I miss you Mano -- I'd like to believe that she reads this forum and is happy somewhere -- lol)

Anyway -- thought I'd share it with you -- would be interested if folks have any thoughts to why this is happening. Has the conversation simply moved to Facebook/Twitter -- or has the diaspora Afghan community (that made up much of the membership) simply grown disillusioned with the prospects for Afghanistan and given up -- I know most of my personal Afghan friends are especially pessimistic -- I was surprised that even the Afghan Pashtoons remark that Ghani has been just talking thus far and the security situation is going to deteriorate.

Alas -- could it be that Mano is forever gone?

Nobody took them seriously enough. I guess they felt under-appreciated and possibly even slightly infuriated with the bromance Ghani and Nawaz seem to have kicked off - so they most probably just gave up.

Oooo :-( they were such good entertainment -- I miss Mano and the other Pakistani haters

Another afghan forum was afghan-web.com , it's gone down as well , afghans on that forum used to put up one hell of a dog and pony show , reading that forum one realized that they hate just about evey one , maybe deep inside they hate themselves , who knows

Afghanistan should know that riding on Indian back won't take them anywhere. They should be friendly and cooperative with their neighbors, especially Pakistan.

Interesting - were these forums existing for the sole purpose of hating Pakistan? Or did they have some higher purpose also?

These forums popped up after 2001 or perhaps they were there before also

Early on on these forums the Tajiks would abuse the Pashtun and vice verse the Pashtuns would abuse the Tajik , the Hazara would get abused by both at times , some posters on these forums were perhaps much older and their posts reflected the time they spent in Afghanistan as far back as 1970 or even earlier , hating someone be it Tajik hating the Pashtun or Pashtun hating the Tajik or them all hating Pakistan was a regular feature , although a small sample of the people of Afghanistan but still quite telling in many ways and somethings and traits could be co-related with actual facts existing on ground

The odd Indian would be there to cheer lead the hate fest that they would have from time to time against Pakistan
