declared war on USSR in August 1945 when WW2 just ended? America had nuclear bomb technology, can make 100 new nukes in a week or less. They got V2 rockets and Werner von Braun became American citizen. If I were America president I would have given Stalin 2 choices:

1. Surrender within 24 hours and become an America territory like Puerto Rico and Guam and live under America laws or

2. Be nuked like Japan was and end up surrendering anyway after many people killed unnecessarily.

America was the real victor of WW2, or at least the people who pushed for American entrance in the war were.

By 1945 Europe was a spent force, Germany destroyed and Japan was nuked. USSR was also depleted and on its last legs.

Americans would have steam rolled into the USSR namely because of American aerial superiority and naval superiority, backed by a well protected continental home base with a massive industrial base and large population.

USSR would have been mince meat, if not for the Soviet sympathizers in the American government (Roosevelt was one of them).

Also Britain had Gloster Meteor fighter jets. USSR didn't have fighter jets at the time. Allies would have had total air supremacy over USSR skies.

Yeah and like Puerto Rico it would be millions of poor people.

I suppose you think we should put them to work in mines to scour their land dry.
