What's new

That’s all for humans: Google’s DeepMind AI is crushing pro gamers

it can make it but cannot think in more ways like humans and will only make jet whose prior concept is input in it through data why not it make a totally new thing world not know previously if AI is so capable instead of copying basic concept of humans innovation. Why they make jet why not make something new and very different from jet which no one of us can think of and have any concept or idea of.AI is no different than normal computer or calculator which can solve problem more quickly and calculate values more efficiently than humans but cannot lead them, similarly cars and aeroplanes move faster than humans but work under them although they are moving in more better way than humans but cannot overwhelm humans same will be case with AI they are better in particular fields bu not in all fields
You are failing to grasp the magnitude of this and how it will lead to innovation. Say the goal of the "game" is to make a jet engine with 50,000 lbs of thrust. The humans did it with the F-35 engine. DeepMind's job is to do it better. You want to bet against it?

I'm quite sure if you asked AI to design a mile long bridge and gave it a month to think about it the design would be very unique.

It will work to support humans but cannot replace humans completely it has no emotions and feelings like humans and depends upon humans for its maintenance and repair .AI has limitations and is not tested in real world yet.

Ion Musk is no child and he is scared of AI developments.
AI research should be regulated like Nuclear research

Too late for that.

Leading countries such as USA and China have tasted the AI blood and want more. Most likely, AI is actually being encouraged like crazy. We are slightly behind but I think we are better off keeping our humanity. AI is going crazy in both China and US with almost every form of human role being replaced by plastics, circuits and glass.

It will work to support humans but cannot replace humans completely it has no emotions and feelings like humans and depends upon humans for its maintenance and repair .AI has limitations and is not tested in real world yet.

  • In Japan and China, hotel front desks are being replaced by robots with AI
  • Sniffer dogs at airports are being replaced by AI-based robotic dogs (we are getting them for our airports)
  • Restaurants in some fancy localities have already started replacing waiters
  • E-commerce companies and emergency medical companies are using drones as delivery mechanisms.
  • Military is testing UCAVs which can take decisions using AI algorithms in battlefield
  • Some countries are already testing and implementing AI-based industrial robots for cars and other manufacturing
  • General Dynamics, AirMule is looking at combat robots which can assist troops in carrying payload and even emergency evacuation.

Now we have DeepMind.

Remind me other than cooking, arts and craft and creative arts, what is left?

While early versions did observe humans the vast majority of the "training" came from playing against itself. It basically created thousands of instances of itself in a league and over a span of 14 days got 200 years worth of real-time play experience. The developers found it fascinating to watch the evolution of strategies where it seemed to like one and then discard it abruptly after stumbling upon a better one.
Doesn't that bothers you a bit mate? If "Scared" and "Concerned" are not the right words for these developments.
What if an AI in some server just learns that it Exists independently of its moderators and decides to copy itself outside the hardware domain like a Virus and LEARNS a lot that we don't want it to learn. While not Telling us anything when it does all that. Almost like a Sci-Fi Fantasy movie stuff. But still scary and Bothersome.
And Worse. What if some nutheads in some country intentionally try to weaponize AI?.
