The Telangana cabinet on Friday decided to move the state Secretariat to a new 62-acre site at Erragadda, where the Nizam Chest Hospital is now located.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said “vastu” defect was one of many reasons why the government had decided to move the Secretariat from the building near Hussainsagar, where the Telangana government is sharing the Secretariat with Andhra Pradesh.

Rao said the new Secretariat would bring all departments under one roof while also providing accommodation to the staff.

“This secretariat has terrible vastu defects. It is a fact; Telangana should not suffer because of bad vastu. Hence we have decided to shift the secretariat and the construction would be completed in a year,” Rao said.

The chief minister, who had set aside Rs 150 crore for the project immediately, had pooh-poohed criticisms over the move since the Nizam Chest Hospital is a heritage site.

“Who said that heritage sites should not be touched? The issue of heritage structures has lost some of its real meaning. The land where the hospital stands is also heritage. Meaningful heritage is ok. Mindless heritage is not ok. However, we will follow rules and construct the new secretariat,” a resolute-sounding Rao said.

The chief minister, known for his superstitious beliefs, said the government will also fulfil its vow of offerings to various deities in the country over the formation of a separate state.

Accordingly, it would offer ornaments worth Rs 5 crore to Lord Venkateswara, and jewelleries to deities in Warangal and Vijayawada, while also giving a “chadar” to Ajmer Sharif Dargah.

Rao came under fire from the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee unit for his decision to shift the Secretariat to the Erragadda Hospital by first moving it to Vikarabad, some 60 km away.

“These decisions by Rao seem to have some ulterior real estate motives. What is wrong with the secretariat that successfully ran on the banks of Hussainsagar Lake,” STPCC spokesperson Shabbir Ali asked.

Meanwhile, a decision by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to build another temporary office in Vijayawada also came under fire.

Naidu has splurged money on refurbishing the H block in the common secretariat here and spent a further Rs 10 crore on shifting once again to L block citing vastu defects in H block.

“While a temporary secretariat will be fabricated in Tullur, the new capital city of Andhra Pradesh, another temporary office will be developed as per “vastu” on the first floor of Irrigation department in Vijayawada wasting valuable tax payer’s money,” YSR Congress spokesperson Ambati Rambabu said.

what would this idiot do with the existing secreteriat buildings ?? there is always a chance of using the land in these prime locations for commercial purposes and filling up his pockets..

Already Center has sanctioned funds for the construction of Andhra capital and by this step work will start more faster in Andhra capital city.

Sir , this news is abt the shift of secreteriat in hyderabad ( and not about building andhra capital in guntur). the existing secreteriat is fine , but kcr wants to build a new secreteriat citing that there are some vastu defects to the existing building. so, he is shifting a govt. lung hosipital located in the centre of the city to somewhere 70kms out of the city and wants to build a new secreteriat in this piece of land. now , i will it to your imagination on who will get the contracts for construction of these buildings.. it is being said that he wants to use the land of secreteriat for some comercial purposes..

Spread over 65 acres of land S R Nagar, the TB & Chest Hospital is one of the oldest health institutions of Hyderabad. The Telangana Government is reportedly planning to turn the hospital land into a parade ground. One of the reasons for shifting the hospital is the lack of occupancy. The 670-bedded facility never has occupancy beyond 240.

Though initially the south H block has been renovated at a cost of Rs. 3 crore for the Chief Minister’s chamber and that of his secretaries, Mr. Chandrababu chose not to move into it because it allegedly did not suit his “vaasthu” requirements.

KCR is doing the same which Chandrababu Naidu did.

Regarding Hospital.

Dr P N S Reddy, superintendent of the TB & Chest hospital in Hyderabad says he has written many letters to authorities drawing their attention to the failing condition of the premises, but nothing has been done so far. "The (hospital) building was declared unfit for human habitation," says Dr Reddy, before adding how the roof of a ward caved in last rainy season.

The chief minister had recently visited both hospitals and expressed dissatisfaction over congestion and pollution there.

Consequently the state government decided to release an amount of Rs75 million (Dh4.5 million) to develop TB Hospital at Vikarabad. A TB Sanitorium was built by the Nizam government at Vikarabad, 70km away from Hyderabad. The same place will now be developed into a major hospital and Erragadda hospital will be relocated there. Similarly the mental hospital will also be shifted.

This move will make 110 acres of land in Hyderabad city available for developing Parade Ground. However, some parts of the land will have to be cleared of encroachments.

TB sanitorium at Vikarabad will be turn into the biggest hospital which will benefit the people from all the neighboring district. And i think Osmania hospital and Gandhi Hospital will be more accessable by the people of the twin cities.

100-acre TB facility in Mangalgiri. Senior health observers note that the hospital stands on a good location__right between Guntur and Vijayawada.

Warangal TB hospital, which again is a 100-bedded facility but has just about 50 per cent occupancy at any given time

KCR(my CM) despite all his minority appeasement is a firm believer in vaastu. He has already changed his residence(official residence as a CM) more than once & wasted crores under grounds of vaastu(in small changes like his official car & what not).

His astrologers told him that living in them(his past residences) could hurt his political future as those residences had vaastu defects!!

Waah! Where were these views of his when he wanted to change the path of the metro under the grounds of 'heritage of Hyderabad' would be hurt due to which the state had to pay a compensation worth a few 100 crores??

Or did our 'Telangana Gandhi' change it just for the sake of votes in the municipal elections?

First and foremost important thing is the health services which is needed for the people. I see all this in terms of improvement in health sector of the population.

People of Twin cities do get health services but what about the people who are not from the twin cities ? We will see more hospitals in all the major districts be it Telangana or Andhra Pradesh.

I hope so!

They did quite a pathetic job handing the Swine Flu outbreak in Telangana.. due to which KCR had to kick out the health minister on whom he put all the blame..

But you need money to build hospitals & attract professionals KCR is already spending money upon subsidies, to appease various religious+caste communities & a few ongoing developmental schemes..
And the TG-govt. employees are agitating for an increase in their salaries[they claim that the.y deserve it for fighting for a separate state].
If KCR gives in to their demands, the govt. won't have much of a surplus left for it.. & KCR has already promised many more subsidies in his manifesto(KG to PG free of cost etc ).
I wonder if he can get the money to build hospitals... if he can, Good for TG

Centre Government is going to release funds for all this .

The Telangana State is all set to have the prestigious All India Institute of Medical sciences (AIIMS) in Hyderabad. For this the Centre has given its assent and had preferred Hyderabad as the best option for setting up the prestigious institution in the state.

Welcoming the center’s decision, the Telangana state government has also come forward to allocate 200 acres of land for the AIIMS having a medical college and hospital.

According to official sources, the state government had identified 200 acres of land in Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, and Nalgonda and Warangal districts and had left it to the Center to choose any of these sites. “Up on verifying these sites, the Union health ministry has approved Hyderabad as the best option for setting up the prestigious healthcare institution. The city is already a healthcare hub with a lot of super speciality hospitals, numerous clinics, and with available man power and world class logistics the centre has favoured Hyderabad,” informed a source in the health department.

As per the inputs, the total cost of the AIIMS project is Rs.840 crore. The national institute will have a 960 bedded hospital besides a medical college with 100 MBBS seats and is expected to offer 42 super speciality services to people in Telangana.

A team of central officers will soon visit Hyderabad for finalising the location for the prestigious institute. As part of its promise the central government had already allocated funds in its general budget this year and is also looking to set up many more AIIMS institutes in other states including Andhra Pradesh.

Earlier in July the Union health ministry had already confirmed its decision to set up AIIMS in Telangana and had even sought state government’s support for allocation of land for the institute.

Except for land, the entire expenditure including the setting up of the institute and its operation and maintenance will be borne by the central government. The AIIMS will have a 500 bedded teaching hospital, 300 bedded super specialty hospital, 100 bedded ICU and trauma centre. It will also incorporate 30 bedded physical medicine and rehabilitation centre and 30 bedded Ayush centre in its premises.

We can't depend on centre for everything. They have gone back on some promises they made to AP!!(Special status, financial package etc). Also their financial situation isn't so good!

& we need more hospitals in rural TG (Warangal, nizamabad, mahbubnagar..) compared to Hyderabad!! :(

By the way are you from a telugu from Telangana mate @Hindustani78 ??

Yes and here state government has to increase the public healthcare budget. It was less than 2% of the state budget in Telangana and i think State Government of Telangana is working on this only to increase the state budget for public health care.

Hyderabad and Secundrabad do have good numbers of hospital with good facilities but when it comes to Warangal. Nizamabad and Mahboobnagar then there is need for more funds in public healthcare.

I am from Hyderabad , forefathers were native of Telangana region.

Dattatreya to meet Telangana CM over proposed shifting of Secretariat - The Times of India
PTI | Feb 7, 2015, 10.00 PM IST

HYDERABAD: Union minister of state for labour and employment Bandaru Dattatreya today said he would hold discussions with Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao over the state government's decision to relocate the chest hospital at Erragadda and build the new secretariat in its place.

"The decision which the Telangana government has taken with regard to proposed re-location of the Secretariat and the Chest Hospital ... all political parties are protesting (opposing) it. I will hold talks with state Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao over the matter," Dattatreya told reporters here.

He said he had requested finance minister Arun Jaitley to make special allocation for Hyderabad for creation of infrastructure as a special case and for release of balance of Rs 2,027.45 crore out of Rs 3,149.46 crore recommended by the 13th Finance Commission.

The minister said the central government will introduce bills in the upcoming Budget session pertaining to amending the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Amendment (CLPRA) Bill and Employees' Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 1952. Besides, the Small Factories (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Services) Bill will also be introduced, he said.

He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Jaitley had positively responded to Labour Department's proposal for setting up a National Workers Bank.

Reacting to a query on Delhi Assembly polls, the minister said, "We are confident that BJP will win good number of seats to form the government."

He is gone nuts, he is trying to sell the Tank bund land and chest hospital land to Benami owners and make money.
If Vaasthu is Bad,then make necessary adjustments, rectification and changes, not shift the whole place.:hitwall::hitwall:
Suppose if his Vaasthu expert says Telangana state Vasthu is bad, will he rectify it? or shift Telangana to Antarctica?
