This reminds me of a joke in a British sitcom series. Where the narrator makes a joke about the British and how they conquered other lands.

The joke was a Brit arrives in an unknown land on the beach- soon a local walks up to them and says "who are you?" the Brits say "in the name of the queen I claim this land", and puts a British flag down. The local says "but we have been on these lands for decades!" and the Brits says , pointing to the flag, " but do you have a flag?"

Haha its hilarious
