Syria says brings down U.S. drone: SANA news agency

(Reuters) - Syria's state news agency SANA said on Tuesday its air defenses brought down a U.S. surveillance plane in the coastal province of Latakia.

"Syrian air defenses brought down a hostile U.S. surveillance plane in northern Latakia," SANA said in a bulletin, without giving further details.

It was the first such incident since the U.S.-led coalition began carrying out air strikes against the hardline militant Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria last summer.

this drone was hit by Anti-aircraft missile I doubt it will be much help in reverse engineering

Looks like MQ1 only ... From its wings .

What not now they have engine , some sort of chipset circuit board , batteries , wheel .

this drone was hit by Anti-aircraft missile I doubt it will be much help in reverse engineering

But they got few circuit board , black box like structure may be a receiver or communication equipment , rechargeable battery ... ( atleast now Syria will start start manufacturing rechargeable batteries )

Turkiye is not operating the MQ-1....they operate the Ankas. Could have taken off from Turkiye though, that is plausible.

Nope they said, American Predator that took off from İncirlik Airbase... Suriye ordusu ABD Predator'unu düşürdü! - CNN TÜRK

We are not operating Predators. Those predators came to Turkey some years ago..their primary role is to gather intelligence against PKK and they are under US control. Though Turkish officials have access to it's feedback to ensure that it's not observing Turkey.
