Yes remittances is not a industry, its never guaranteed and also prone to outside economic shocks, along with second and 3rd generations do not send money as like the first generations. Also lastly this will create lots of jobs for local citizens as well. You just have to carefully look at it. There will be less corruption and more accountability as well. Taxation plays a huge role in nation building. Here is an interesting read, I am not condoning for lotteries to raise revenue, but just an example, you need to create industries at a local level.Remittance is just a bonus revenue to the economy.

Yes I agree that the money of overseas Sylhetis should be used to create real industry in Sylhet and BD in general rather than the shopping centres, restaurants and hotels that we have been mainly seeing.
As young Sylhetis in the UK for example are now educated, then we will see this happening more and more and there are plenty of us who would like nothing better than to use our money and knowledge to set up wealth generating business back in our homeland. In fact I am thinking of using my IT skills to set up a business in Sylhet sometime later on this decade.
