Swiss cabinet okays information sharing agreement with Pakistan

FBR has amended Article 25 (exchange of information) to access banking/financial information.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Swiss cabinet on Tuesday authenticated the information sharing agreement with Pakistan.

According to a notification issued by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the FBR has amended Article 25 (exchange of information) to access banking/financial information.

In respect of Article 25, the exchange of information will be applicable for information concerning facts that relate to any fiscal year beginning on or after the first day of January of the year next following the date of signature of the Convention.

Under the revised convention, the provisions of the said Convention shall come into force from November 29, 2018 and shall have effect in Pakistan for any fiscal year beginning on or after July 01 of the calendar year next following that of the entry into force of the Convention.

Whats the point? This means that they will not share any information on previous cases and thus no amount of money will be recovered.

I am not even sure why the words were coined in such a horrible way to just say "sorry cant help you with Zardari issue"

There might be some silver lining to it......if we can get people to cooperate for a monetary reward. Pakistan was offered and did receive documents of embezzlement taken from Benazirs' attorney's office. We should pursue whistle blowers actively. There will always be Panama gates.

moreover a bit off topic the biggest need is to get uae and other gcc countries share data of pakistanis holding aqama there. Thats like a low hanging fruit that can be plucked over a few years
