actually, i agree with you 100%
the Azan itself is just a call to prayer; but i do think that for Muslims and non-Muslims alike --Mosque would be better served by having it at a reasonable level (but not too loud) and ensuring that the acoustics and all are proper as well.....the recitation (or pre-recording) can perhaps be chosen by the people who have to hear it everyday.......(i doubt this would ever take place, but just an idea)
the worst thing is when you have different Mosques, which seem almost to be 'competing' against eachother for who has the loudest speaker......the Azan gets all jumbled up and there's no unison.
again, it's just a call to prayer.....it should serve its purpose but also be pleasing; not "cacophonous"
