In an interview to Thanthi TV, Dr Swamy said that on his previous visit to Lanka, he had told the government that they should release the Tamil fishermen but not their boats. Swamy said that the boats were owned by rich men and that the fishermen strayed into Lankan waters as the yield in Indian waters was very less. This sparked an outburst among political parties including pro-Tamil outfits which has forced newly elected Tamil Nadu BJP president to say that Swamy’s views were not that of the party’s. This comment comes in the backdrop of TN CM asking NDA ministry to take over Katchatheevu which India had given to Lanka. Most of the trespassing takes place at this point. Jayalalithaa had said that Lanka should also release the seized boats with the fishermen. After the BJP-led ministry came to power, relations with Lankan government had improved with detained fishermen being let off without much delay and not facing physical assaults by Lankan navy.

Though I'm allergic to stupid Swamy in every possible way, but there is hint of truth in it. Rich people own multiple fishing trawlers, while poor fisherman either works on daily wage on them, or rent it for a period of time, forcing them to fish at dangerous water just to remain profitable.

crossing into Lankan waters ?? are you sure on that and are you aware of the fishing rights of TN fishermen in the 1974 agreement when India ceded Tamilnadu's Katchatheevu to Lanka ?

If the Indian PM cant retrieve the trawlers back from Lanka and fail to condemn his defacto PM, there no reason why Tamilnadu should still remain as part of India

The Indian fishermen have no right to fish around the Island of Katchatheevu.

As far as TN being part of India, you can launch your own Jihadi forces to free TN from the Union of India. The Tamil fishermen would be enough to kick your ***.
