What Punjab dominance bhai?

I'm not a Punjabi, but I resolutely say that people need to let go of this false illusion of "Punjab dominance".

Please keep in mind that the population of Punjab is over 50% of Pakistan, yet out of around 15 Prime Ministers Pakistan has had, only 2 of them were native Punjabis (not including transitional posts).

Today, the Prime Minister of Pakistan is a Pashtun and the Chief Minister of Punjab is a Baloch, yet people are still yelling out "Punjabi dominance".

For a people that make up half of Pakistan's population, they are actually disproportionately represented.

I am not really Pakhtun as I dont have a real touch to my roots. My paternal and maternal lineage is however extremely Pakhtun.

I do however understand a little about Pakhtun upset. From my perspective, we have a lot of factors OUT of the Government's control that holds our development back.

Taliban and war for instance. It has destroyed KP to some extent. KP being a former war zone is just unfortunate thing to be honest. If Punjab had been a war zone, it would've been less developed too. Pakhtuns are just unlucky to be the poor folks of Pakistan.

You see rich, billionaires, tycoonists, opportunists coming out from Punjab/Sindh. You would rarely see any Pakhtun as such (perhaps Mulana Diesal).

The economy and jobs are in those provinces. Amonst many other better facilities.

Realistically, KP can never be a powerhouse (due to geography). But it never hurts to try? Govt can encourage private companies to move white-collar offices to Peshawar, Mardan, Manshera, Mingora, Abbottabad etc.

This is because of Afghan refugees, many residents of Peshawar and Quetta are legitimately angry with the federal government for letting droves of refugees come into their cities. The economy of KPK is robust (you have Sui gas) and tourist potential is very strong. It can be even bigger than Murree, Abottabad, Islamabad if the security situation is better.

As far as the Northern Pukhtoon areas of Balochistan, they can benefit immensely from CPEC and trade from the next government of Afghanistan. Federal government is having a difficult time dealing with sectarian militias operating in Quetta targeting Hazaras.

Pukhtoons are in the ideal location to benefit immensely from trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan, Iran, CARs, China, KSA/UAE, and eventually Russia.

We already knew of this. Pukhtoons are more loyal and supportive of the Pakistani military and central government than Punjabis. Especially after TTP takeover of Swat and Waziristan and following operations to dislodge them.

They suffered the most in the imposed war on terror. US and its proxies are still promoting the idea that Pakistan is a traitor for (ironically) joining WOT coalition. They are playing both sides to burn pakistan, but alhamdulilah Pukhtoons are extremely loyal to Pakistan. They will fail.

31% is still a huge and alarming number; it is in contrast to my friends from KPK who claimed that PTM is mostly disregarded. Their support is only bound to grow as they have launched a successful propaganda campaign and bring up convincing narratives which is hard to counter by uneducated Pakistanis.

If PTM became a party and this 31% were to vote for PTM, then it would be the second largest party in KPK.

About ANP. During 2008 (just before the elections) i remember reading a paid advertisement in newspaper (i read newspaper since i was 9) of ANP earging common people to vote for ANP. The major slogan was (Khpla khawra , Khpal ekhtyaar) apni zameen (soba) pe apna ikhtyaar. That advertisement raised some good points. Like very low royality of electricity , gas to KP, . Despite the major producer of electricity maximum loadshedding was here (thats true for 2008) . And some other pretty good things that was meant to (awake) the pashtoons. The major point which Mian iftikhaar repeated several times in a public gathering in our villige was that “we the pashtoons are in crores, still we never ruled overself and people like NS and Benazir(she was alive in those days) rule us since decades. For a young brain like mine these all were pretty good points to (awake) a person. So i supported the manifesto of ANP. Though i was very young so couldn’t vote. Which turnsout to be good as i saw the major and most brutual bloodshed of pashtoons in that period. I remember a particular incident where there was a blast in Charsada (at ANP jalsa where at that time Asfandyaar wali was on stage) and many were dead. As soon as the bomb blasted, asfandyaar ran for the helicopter, set on it. Went to airport and flew to london. All that haplened in a leriod of 9-10 hours. We used to say a modified (shair) of Rehman baba

Maa ledali dy raftaar da nationalyaano...

Translation :
Aik damake se jo london tak pohnch jaaty hy, mene deki hy nationalio (ANP walo) ki raftaar. That day, at that particular day i stop supporting ANP and many youngster like me did the same (i assume).

And then came the name changing unnecessary thing.

Such are the incidents that turned ANP into a NO MANS PARTY.

ANP have no vote bank. Just those who crossed 60-65 (those who have seen the time of Bacha Khan amd then hus Son walli khan) and then those youngsters whose family members are on some party possitions in ANP. About the 2-3 seats of ANP, ary yaar mardan lo lahore bana dia tha sara budget udhr use kia 5 saal. Kuch to uska benefit mily ga na inko. To ba yahe 2-3 seats milti inko mardan sawabi ki. ANP was very strong in my hometown , its major leader mian iftikhaar hussain constituency. And this time he got 200-250 votes from whole town of 1000’s (i guess its 15000+) of voters. Next 5 years amd ANP is no where.
