Just the trade alone flowing through the CPEC infrastructure will generate about $350 billion a year even if 10% of China's total trade is diverted from South China Sea over to CPEC. That is just base trade flowing of goods, not to mention the insurance and banking industry, IT and logistical support industries etc.

Currently Pakistan is being forced to somehow dump CPEC. Pakistan will do no such thing.

CPEC can become successful if Pakistan is able to make free trade deals with western and middle eastern countries. That will incentivize China to move (at least some of) its manufacturing to Pakistan and then ship finished products to the outside world. Otherwise, the simple population graph along with Pakistan's perennial security / political instability makes CPEC seem like a risky gambit

Pakistan does (and probably can) NOT have to pay any of the borrowed money from China. This makes Pakistan's CPEC borrowing a genius move. China is also willing to sign cheques (and rollover debt indefinitely) to Pakistan, as long as its strategic priorities in South Asia remain the same. While I'm skeptical about the prospects of CPEC becoming a big economic success, I don't think Pakistan was wrong in exploiting this opportunity.
