guys i heard that after thorium fuel is spent ,the spent fuel can be used to make a nuke....with thorium 1 can make more number of nukes when compared to uranium..is that true?

By the way whats the Power generation capacity of Srilanka , i dont think it would be more than 4000 MW

By the way why not look at Wind Power , where we have adequate tech and which is also mature
India Generate 8% of its electricity through Wind Power ie 14000 MW

While Thorium reactors are still in the development stage
Currently we have one 300 MW Thorium based reactor and our building 4 more of them to increase our thoruim based power to 1500 MW by 2015

We are also working on 540 MW and 700 MW thorium based designs which would be offered for export once they go online in 2017

Since Sri lanka requires nuclear power only in 2025 , they should wait for Thorium based reactor tech to Mature and By 1-2 700 MW reactors once they are developed instead of looking at a 300 MW design

India has 67% ie 2/3rd of world monazite reserves and total 30% of world's thorium reserves.
