Space junk safely passes space station; crew OK

After monitoring a small piece of space junk for 11 hours, NASA determined it posed no danger Tuesday to the International Space Station and its three residents.

The debris is from a Chinese satellite that was deliberately destroyed in 2007 as part of a weapons test. Initial estimates put it passing less than three miles from the space station late Thursday afternoon. Mission Control ordered Kondratyev, Nespoli and American Catherine Coleman to prepare to get in the Soyuz; there was not enough time to steer the outpost away from the junk.
But as the afternoon wore on, the threat level went from red to green, and the Soyuz precaution was no longer needed. It ended up coming no closer than 3.3 miles.

how can this be good for anybody? dumping garbage in space- the next great frontier for our neighbor. there was no need for this- the international community is a buzz for while that the Chinese military( certain key players ) have gone rogue. Their politico leadership begged ignorance of such a test even being conducted.

and I see insanity... killing a satellite is not big deal... satellite follow a regular path (unless intervened manually). Any one who have long distance rocket can hit these satellite... Indian scientists have declare they have this ability, but As a responsible nation India will not allow them to test it....

when you can intercept agile rocket, fighter planes, whats a big deal intercepting satellite???

china state power shift to military because our busy president, representative of china dont know a single weapon test, what is it other than innovation and creativity mind?
consider many chinese people, social group, like housewife, elderly dont use computer, over-time working office worker, all non miltary fan, know nothing about j-20 maiden flight.
