What's new

Sons (and daughters) of Zardari, Imran, Altaf, and Nawaz

I hear bilawal will context next elections.

If Jamima is willing, we may see Imran's sons in 2023 elections

Nawaz's daughter is already active.

If Altaf says vote for my daughter, most of my fellow Urdu speakers will
--- Heck they will die for Altaf's pets if they have to.

In India, Gandhi clan has a chokehold on politics

In BDesh, Hasina and Khalida will make sure their sons and daughters get to rule.

Why is this.

Are we the voters still stuck with kings and emperors.

p.s. Same issue in Philippines and Thailand where families come back over and over and over (interspersed by one or two exceptions and military dictatorships).

You should pray to God that you born in to some king or emperor house in your next janam. All the bickering would go away :P

I hope its a joke about this...its never gonna happen..neither IK will allow it nor Jemima will even allow them to step into politics and its for their greater good and for the greater good of the country...

Once they are 18, they can fly into PM's seat in Pakistan.

Now who can resist that urge. Ask Sonia.

No anymore! The Gandhis are history! This is what finally happens to dynasties.

I hear you my bro.

I hear you.

But you gotta wait for at least 2 election cycles in the future before making this statement. As it is, what you say is "sadly" a wish and not a fact.

I am with you, but I have to see the reality as well.

yours truly

Fauj Pak

Thats our typical Pakistani thinking about politics, it doesn't apply to IK's successor..

Look bro

What you say is a "belief" and not reality.

For reality you have to see the way he got himself elected to PTI top post and some of the old pirs and cronies to the other top posts.

And other dhandlis within PTI elections. Everything is on record, you just have to read it.

He didn't himself get elected FYI, no candidate stepped into election against IK's Chairmanship.

And as far as dhandli reports within the PTI elections is concerned that yes there imight be some truth in it but there's very litle to no outcry of it, which shows that only a few people cried about dhandli in intra party elections but i hope it doesn't happen in the next intra-party elections, clean elections are a must whether its outer-party or intra-party .. and as for other pirs and crones in the top posts..they all got elected after contesting in elections..

Former President of PTI Javed Hashmi(177 votes) won against Umar Sarfaraz Cheema(24 votes) and Saleh Nazir(only 2 votes)

while

Shah Mehmood Qureshi got elected unopposed in the election for Vice-Chairmanship.

In the Party's own constitution its well written that no sibling of any PTI member can become the successor of his father/mother's designation and so it shall be followed.

USA has had quite a few father-son presidents, and also powerful families in politics (Kennedies, Bushes). Why are you singling out S Asia for that? "Voh kare to chamatkaar, hum kare to balatkar"?

Remember that no matter how influential their families are, they cannot even become an MP unless their people vote them in. That is a very significant political right that seems to be going unappreciated. You may be unhappy about who is in power, but the fact is that they were elected and put there by the collective will of the people. (Assuming free and fair elections, of course - which has not been in doubt in India or the US.) You cannot bemoan the representatives you have if they have been elected by a majority of the citizenry. That is part of democracy, that people you hate might also come into power, if they are the most liked.

This is a far cry from N Korea or the Arab countries with their monarchs and other hereditary rights to rule. I would much rather have the political system of India (and Pakistan, assuming no rigging or cheating) than have a stupid family rule over me and my people forever.

It is great to criticize ourselves and our systems, but it is also important to give credit where it is due. As far as political systems go, we have it better than a lot of other countries, especially to Pakistan's west and India's east.

Quite a few? Only two pairs. In nearly 230 years. I think the rest of your argument falls apart when you consider that the democratic process has worked in USA to deliver a superpower that serves a majority of its citizens rather well. Can you say the same for South Asia?
