Pirates Kill Indian Carrier

May 5, 2011: India announced that it delaying, indefinitely, plans to build any more aircraft carriers. This is being done for several reasons. Most immediately, there is a growing problem with Somali pirates operating off the west coast of India and throughout the Indian Ocean. To deal with this problem, which doesn't appear to be going away soon, Indian warships and land based patrol aircraft have to spend more time patrolling. This is expensive. Another problem is that India has two aircraft carriers entering service in the next few years, and this may be more expensive than planned. Then there is the costly nuclear submarine program, which is getting more pricey, and time consuming, each year.
At the moment, India has only one carrier in service, the 29,000 ton INS Viraat. This ship returned to service two years ago, after 18 months in a shipyard for upgrades and refurbishment. The refurbished Russian carrier Gorshkov (now the 44,000 ton INS Vikramaditya), is supposed to enter service next year. India is also building a 42,000 ton carrier, or Air Defense Ship (ADS) and was planning on starting construction of a second one once the first one was launched. The first ADS ship is expected to enter service in 2012, and the second one was to be ready by 2017. But now, there won’t be a second ADS for at least a decade.

India has operated carriers for half a century, having initially acquired INS Vikrant from Britain in 1961. Vikrant was decommissioned in 1997. India acquired a second carrier, the Viraat, also from Britain, in 1986. When it enters service in 2012, the Vikramaditya will operate sixteen navalized MiG-29 fighters, plus some helicopters. The ADS ship will have a similar aircraft complement to the Vikramaditya.

when i saw thread title then ...............................................

but now that i have read article i agree with it

how do u delete ur own post (not thread)?

and by when can we expect the IAC-2 to be approved. Cause i'm sure it'll take atleast 6-7 years to build atleast.
and when it arrives will decide which aircraft to operate of it.
eg. If we expect it to be complete by 2018 then Rafale is the best bet.
or if we expect completion in 2020 the JSF and N-FGFA would be best bet.
& if it's expected around 2022 then N-FGFA and N-AMCA would be best bet.

don't you agree?

Simple just edit with the word self delete or go advanced and delete. The latter would give a bad look to your post.
JSF would be best any time as we can have others when ever we want, i mean we can make a one if required but JSF will be a real game changer.

I dont know what i should say about this masterpiece
Its got Riaz Haq/Ahmed Qureshi written all over it
while it is true that India is delaying IAC2 , as navy chief had confirmed a few weeks ago

but thats due to funding priorities , Indian Navy will be allocated 40 Billion USD to be spent on new acquisition between 2012-17 , and navy has better priorities than another aircraft carrier

This 40 billion will be spent on acquiring 7 new frigates , 4 additional destroyers , 6 new subs , 8 ASW corvettes 14 landing crafts , 6 mine hunters , 4 LPDs
if u total the cost then u will get a figure of around 35 billion USD
Rest 5 billion USD will be spent on further acquisition of 56 new LUH and 6O ASW Helicopters , 4 P8I , 10 recon aircrafts

So Pakistan should invest in Somali pirates if it wants to neutralize Indian carrier?
Some logic that is?

yeah u r right just give 10billion $ from your navy budget to pirates. then they can recruit some new fellows and can induct more arms.

ya but there's a small problem with JSF you can't fly it unless US allows you to:(
Also i'd rather prefer an aircraft that we can fly in the war unlike F-35s

I've just understood why we can't use Jalashwa during war cause if it drowns then the US'll look bad that their ship drowned.
So by the same logic US will not let us fly F-35s in war cause if a J-10/J-17/J-20/F-16/SAM shoots it down then again it'll be like Oh my GOD the Superior US technology jet has been downed by inferior tech machiene that's bad. Now the US Epedimiologists will have to come up with some new innovative Statistical system to prove it's still the best technological weapon

so to sum it all up NO
plz  US Weapons they can have transports. they can have surveillance systems we won't get a better option anywhere else and recon systems too but plz plz plz no offensive weapon systems. we're a defensive force and offence is the best defensive so keep ur offensive weapons strong and unfaltering.

We will have spares and other things ready if they are for aircraft carrier unlike for IAF. So even US is not willing, we can fly them. But US will never do
that. Iam right:what:
