Looks like a character from Fallout video games except for the extra weird mask.

How much of that is now true.. some 50 years later..
soldier wear NVG's.. Have kevlar vests, gloves... no welded boots.. But I can tell you US army boots are darn comfortable..and are bulletproof from small arms fire.

Also notice that no camo was thought about..

Also notice the AR 15(?). Was like state of the art in 1959! Awesome pictures..

If you look closely..there is some camo in there.. a mix of light and medium grey.. similar in colors to the current US pattern.
