"London mayor says decision to strip citizenship could affect Britons with roots overseas"

https://www.theguardian.com/politic...on-risks-creating-second-class-of-citizenship

"Khan said the home secretary’s decision earlier this week “risks creating a second class of citizenship – one that can be removed at the whim of a politician”, and calls into question what it means to be British."

"In a statement released to the Guardian, he said: “This could affect millions of Londoners of dual or immigrant heritage, and anyone who may be eligible for citizenship from another country. Sajid Javid hasn’t only exposed how insecure the citizenship rights of these people are, he has called into question the very nature of what it means to be a citizen of this country at all.”

Well done Sajid.

Here's a tip, don't fucking go and join ISIS.
It is. And it is also true that this creates two tiers of British citizenship which of course is unacceptable. The case therefore goes way beyond this b*atch. But then the Home Secretary Sajid Javid knew this. The clever part is he has revoked her citizenship thus fending off accusations of being easy on this filth. Also send clear message to other filth who might be tempted. And he knows this will go to courts and they will overturn the Home Secretaries decision. Win win for all.

It doesn't create a 2nd tier. It gives a warning to British nationals who are anti state that you will be thrown out. Don't fucking become a terrorist and be a peace loving citizen. The safety of the public must come first.

Unfortunately, potentially it does. Watch this case. She will appeal and the courts I suspect will overturn Home Secreteries decision. I feel also strongly about this but there are wider implications of this that we must be aware of.

Some of the convicted groomers have been deported in the past. I think about 200 have been deported last year. It applies to high risk dual nationals not necessarily the wider public otherwise it could become a civil rights issue.

Yes, it does apply to naturalized citizens who have British ciitizenship removed and sent back to their country of origin. Howevrer, I think Shamima was born British thus it does raise other issues.

True, it will be overturned, she's born British and has never held a Bengali passport. It's a quick sand type situation.

Lol....

Definitely creates a 2 tier citizenship. This girl should still never be allowed back but i think the govt could have been a bit more clever about it.

Eg. By joining Isis these people make an explicit statement of abandoning their citizenship, many even burn their passports on camera. That could have formed the basis of the revocation. Also they could insist people be tried locally in Syria as they have committed a crime against that nation.

Any way that they can prolong the stay in this scenario would have been welcome - without this kind of unwieldy move.

That said, the appeal process against will hopefully take a few years and give these dogs the ordeal they deserve. Though ultimately they should win.

This case has received unnecessary media attention maybe because of her gender. She isn't the first British born to be stripped of her citizenship. There is this case of this Pakistani-origin man and his family who had their citizenship revoked by Theresa May on terrorism related charges while they were on holiday in Pakistan.
