Shahid Afridi Busting the Myth of Pakistani Cricket | Shoaib Akhtar | World Cup 2019

Not sure if my observation is correct..
It is not like Pakistan team was consistently winning all the matches and a top performer in 90-2000 era...Rather the problem of today of Pakistan cricket is inheritance of past where batting is always a weak pointbfor Pakistan...Even today, without any pressure, Pakistan bowlers should be counted among top 3 nations of cricketing world..

Pakistan junior cricketers need a coach who is technically sound like Anwar, Younus Khan or Mohd Yusuf...They can use foreign coach for fielding...But Pakistan has such talented retired batsman and bowlers that they should opt to take them into account

And again, loosing to India does not mean everything of Pakistan cricket is bad...It is just a day where you could not perform...If Pakistan win rest 4 matches and go to Semi, the same people who are so noisy...will praise Your capt like a god..

Very good points. However Pak cannot mathematically make the semis any more. Pak relied on heroic performances in the past. Then the heroes ran out. Now we have to play as a team of united professionals - this is why we struggle at present.

The issue the team actually should guts in that era. We had fun watching those matches with waqar younis, wasim akram, saqlin mushtaq, abdul razak, saeed anwar, inzamum ul haq, shouib akhtar. From top to bot there was charisma, class, "lagan" and juzba. It was fun to watch abdul razak hitting mac grah, it was fun to watch klusner trying to hit shoab akhtar boncer and just nicking the ball to go for a six because of the sheer speed. There was excitement siting in front of TV. Now a days these current players are had-haraams, before it was fun watching inzi getting run out again and again, but now who wants to see this fat fck of a captain...

it is not just the loss against India but how they've performed overall in the tournament so far. Think they lost badly (wiped out) to SA and one other team in the lead up to the WC too.

They're still in with a chance but not only will they have to win all remaining 4 matches, they'll also have to hope for results from other teams going in the favour, such as the NZ vs SA game where they'll be hoping for a SA win. The rains have also been a big problem so far, so a washout game and they're history as far as their WC chances are concerned.

I wonder why did PCB select Mickey Arthur as the coach when you have better domestic legends who can make much more impact. Wasim would've been a better bowling coach than Azhar given bowling is the strongest point for Pak

It's obvious PCB is scumbaggery and players are somewhat selfish. Let me explain what I know:

Players such as Younis Khan (being a recent example), have offered their services but PCB does not want to pay them what they deserve yet they offer the same/similar amount to foreign coaches/players. The fielding coach Pak had (Steve Rixon) when they were wipping the floor with teams (even India in home in 2012/3), was sometimes not paid on time and PCB never put confidence in him that they would renew his contract or that his position was safe, etc. When this man has done so much single-handedly he deserves to cement his place. There are other variousss stupid decisions by PCB for which I don't understand the reasons.

Now the example of former players here are a few examples...Wasim Akram is actually on some kind of special committee but also on that committee is (was he resigned like yesterday) Mohsin Khan. Now the problem here is Mohsin has openly accused Wasim of match fixing and continues to do so probably. Who thought it was a good idea to put these two on a committee and why? Inzamam is the chief selector and his nephew, Imam ul Haq, is a dirtbag selfish player with some mediocre talent who has some beefed up numbers from playing against small teams but almost never performs when is needed. So being chief selectors bhaanja he's always in team whether he's sh!t or not. Also players like Wasim get paid wayyyy more doing commentary, being special guests, league bowling coach, etc. than being a bowling coach or something for national team. Being involved with national team is a long term commitment and you can't just go into some league in the middle of a series or something.

This is just a the tip of the iceberg there's a lot more rot within Pakistani cricket system. With all that taken into consideration it's amazing how well the team was doing up until a year or two ago.

Pakistan is mentally weak. Its not losing to India that should be the point to argue. If you happen to see their game against Australia, they lost that game. Australia did not win it. At one moment, Australia looked like scoring 360 to 380. Despite such pathetic fielding, dropping catches school boys could not have, Pakistan still restricted them to 307. They just did not have self belief to compete looking at how they got out.

At the end of the tournament, PCB will rip apart the team, management and coaching staff. We have been there so many times. We need to invest and reform first class cricket, have more focus on under 19 and more A tours. Then we will have a real team in 4 years time. I have no doubt if reforms are seriously implemented, Pakistan has enough talent to beat any team.
