Serbian Nora B-52 155 mm SP HOWs for BA

@ Apocalypse:-

Mate, afaik its confirmed that we will be having PLZ-45. I dont see any reason why they shall cancel it. Though Nora is good...we would need that in battalions (around 40+ or so), just like we planned for PLZ. Or else, there will be less effect.

Cheers!!!

It's not me, it's BD Mil's Ashiq vai who claims the PLZ-45 purchase plan has been scrapped. This guy has connections in army, but I'd still wait for confirmation from other sources.

We need to know the quantity of B52s ordered. Is there been any official news for it now?

Cheers!!!

Last time I checked, the number is 18! But there's more on the way. Guess they're purchasing the batteries in phases.

Lol...i dont believe Ashiq anyway. So we will need some concrete details regarding that. Until then, i will be hopeful.

About B52, as i mentioned...we need to have 40+ or so, which is approximately the number we ordered for PLZ.

Cheers!!!

Well according to PLZ 45's Wiki page, Bangladesh are "confirmed operators"! Idk how would that count.

Cheers!!!

wiki is not a proof of anything as any average Joe like those in bdmil can update wiki for propaganda. We have gone full circle on multiple of these bdmil propaganda including BAF getting F18 etc. So unless there is some solid proof like official confirmation like induction of Chinese SAM (although little value for defense) thread like this are pure speculation.

The more people reference Wikipedia, the more misinformation are spread. I once saw the BAF operates 32 MiG-29s

The vid says Bangladesh Army is an active user. But as of now, it's still speculation.

NEVER BELIEVE IN WIKI I DONT WHAT IS WITH EVERYONE THEY GO TO WIKI AND THEY GIVE LINK OF WIKI

it is a total baseless website a lot of error

Just as an update, came to know that the number of SPHs is strongly believed to be 18. Got this info. from another forum. I guess, for a start, 18 wont be bad.

Cheers!!!

We probably wont be needing all 18 at the Burmese border. I think some will be kept in the forward air base in Chittagong.

Who knows BA may do some target practice in the Cox's Bazaar sea beach. BD is so densely populated. So, who knows BN may put some targets in the BoB at 20, 30, 40 50, 60 and 70 km distances and BA will practice firing of these HW toys with heart's content!

Yes that is actually a very strong possibility. But I was thinking, how far is the Burmese water boundary from Cox's Bazar? Like if the ships enter BD water area, can such SPHs fire at that distance just say, for warning sake? Sounds weird but just wondering!!

I thought this NORA B-52 HW has a range of 70km. But, the spec. you have posted says its range is about 40km. So, BA may place a few units somewhere far east of Cox's Bazaar-Teknaf line and near the Burmese border. HW needs perhaps a better road because it is built on tires. Can it move through muds in a paddy land?

Length of BD-Burma common border is perhaps 300km north to south. They may attack through any points where our forces are vulnerable. So, a few units of HW and one or two tank regiments (each regiment consists of 44 tanks), and a few units of APCs should be placed along this border.

But, most of BD tank units are placed in our NW in Bogra and Saidpur for reasons anyone can guess. The ultra-modern MBT-2000new tanks will perhaps be placed in those places, too. I think, the defence in the NW requires that future HW imports may be placed in those places.

I am speaking of the viewpoints of an amateure. Do not take it seriously. I would request others to contribute with better ideas on HW placements.

When India went to war against Pakistan in 1999, IA was in possession of about 400 units of FH-77B self-propelled Howitzers built by BAE Bofors' of Sweden, and with some of these howitzers IA was able to dislodge PA troops from their mountain positions.

AFAIK they were not SPH but towed Howitzers.
