Wow, just wow.He argued that instead of terminating the service of staff possessing fake degrees, other disciplinary action should have been taken, such as demotion or stopping increments.
That's not the issue - it is up to the organization/company to relax its requirements for hiring people, as long as the requirements are relaxed/waived under a process and according to the rules in place. However, in this case applicants knowingly lied and committed fraud to get hired. That is unacceptable and they should be terminated. They should be glad they aren't being sued to recover the salaries they've already received. In u.s the big companies like google have allowed individuals without college degree to work if they have necessary technical skills as many college degree holders not know better skills needed for practical work so as far as person is capable of doing job properly degree not matters
Wow, just wow.
It's amazing how the senators do not think there is anything wrong about lying, cheating or gaining employment through fake degrees. However, can a person be trusted in a company who was deceitful before even getting hired? In USA you must "tell the truth" when trying to seek employment with any company. Totally unethical on the part of the employees and the management who had knowingly hired them or didn't do their homework before hiring them.In u.s the big companies like google have allowed individuals without college degree to work if they have necessary technical skills as many college degree holders not know better skills needed for practical work so as far as person is capable of doing job properly degree not matters
BS...
If you lie on your job application irrespective... Especially if you lie about your credentials you are fired here in the North America in a second on the spot.
I was born here and I am a working professional. Don't make up stuff.
I am not talking about self learning versus more traditional learning methods...
I am talking about lying about your credentials to get a job = Termination!
Maybe if you had some formal education you will be able to discern the difference.
medical is different and complex field I am referring to ordinary jobs which can be done by person through self learning and without need of university
Part of this is political point scoring in that the politicians advancing these opinions are the opposition, and there are probably tens of thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of government employees that were hired in violation of the rules or on the basis of fraudulent qualifications by these opposition parties when they were in power over the last 10 years. They have a vested interest in trying to portray themselves as 'the parties that care for the average person'. One of the biggest drains on the government and loss making government institutions are these unnecessary employees that were hired to 'reward' constituents. It's easier for a political party to just hire tens of thousands of people (typically their supporters or friends and family of their supporters) into government jobs than to actually put in place reforms that encourage the growth of the private sector & industry that reduces unemployment over the long term. It's amazing how Pakistani senators think there is nothing wrong about lying, cheating or gaining employment through fake degrees. It's just totally baffling. Makes you wonder about their own ethical standards.

These are literally political slogans during election time, "We (XYZ political party) gave jobs to tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of people".
@VCheng Remember the PPP Chief Minister from Balochistan a few years ago on the subject of legislators being disqualified because of fraudulent degrees? "A degree is a degree, whether real or fake".
