WASHINGTON, Nov 15, (AFP): Saudi Arabia’s former intelligence chief on Tuesday said his country opposes any military strike on Iran, amid rising tensions over the Islamic republic’s nuclear program.
“Such an act, I think, would be foolish. And to undertake it... would be tragic,” said Prince Turki al-Faisal, his country’s former intelligence chief and a former ambassador to Washington, speaking at a National Press Club briefing.
A military strike would rally Iranians around their government, the prince argued.
“If anything, (a potential military strike) would only make the Iranians more determined” to develop nuclear weapons, he added.
Israel in recent weeks has warned Tehran of possible military strikes against its nuclear sites, and fears of such an attack have increased following the release last week of a UN nuclear watchdog report accusing Tehran of working to develop nuclear warheads to fit inside its medium-range missiles.
Iran has long rejected Western and Israeli allegations that its nuclear program is geared toward military objectives, saying its activities are solely civilian.
And tensions have risen between Iran and Saudi Arabia in recent weeks, since US allegations surfaced that Iranian officials plotted to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to Washington.
Tehran has denied the accusations, but Riyadh has taken them seriously and said it was weighing “a suitable response.”

So we oppose strike on Iran we are slaves. We ask for it we are slaves.... So what should we do then roll over and die for your comfort?? LoL no revolution will come in KSA not for a long time anyways since the government is really with its people not like the majority of the so called democracies of the entire world.

Very wise on the Saudi part for a change. Hopefully Saudi and Iranian relations will improve as a result the muslim world does not need two main players at each others throats for the sake of their peoples

I am glad someone is not just spewing venom because the title contains any of the two words "Saudi" and "Arab". Yeah I said it before we oppose a strike on Iran because we do not want any war on any shape or form. Israel would love for a strike to happen to watch the two biggest threats to it at each other's throat. (Iran supporting Hizzboullah and KSA supporting Palestine in the international Arena both are nightmares to Israel). It would be Iraq all over again with the west trying to lengthen the war as much as possible causing as much damage as possible to both sides.

if its true then its a good decisions by Saudis and now both countries should forget the past ....... Both are Muslims countries and they should discuss misunderstandings between them and try to solve their issues with peaceful talks ..... Fight among both countries will help enemies of Islam ...... As a muslim nothing would give me more pleasure in seeing these 2 nations building bridges. Why would either party want war?
