It is a racist term, and carries negative connotation. @Lux de Veritas is subjective and projects his personal opinions and acts like it is 'truth'. The generalization of 2 nationalities is not something that be taken lightly.

We have been using "Indon' for a very long time in Malaysia. This is first time I heard it is a slur. Although, i know a derivation of Indon slur 'Indo*'.

The problem is that consulates and embassies of poor countries don't really help their citizens.

The only three countries who have raised their voice recently are Sri Lanka, India and Indonesia, simply because these 3 are now economically more powerful and are getting better. Other countries like Pakistan and Bangladesh cannot say anything because of religious sentimental respect for Arabs or that their embassies don't really help them much.

This is contrary to US, Israeli, European or Russian embassies who would save their citizen even if he or she has committed a genuine murder.

Many of these foreign workers sent abroad should be counseled by their employment agencies of proper strategies in case of emergencies. For one, they should never, under no circumstance, give or surrender their passports to their employers as that is illegal. In Japan, employers who do so risk being sent to jail for as long as 15 years for that, and it is forbidden by Japanese Law. I don't know the laws of certain countries in the MIddle East but their governments should disseminate legal matters to would be employers of things to do and things not to do towards employees; foreign or domestic.

People going abroad to work should find the phone numbers of their countries' embassy or consulate and should report instances of abuse when the situation arises. Employment is not worth the physical, mental injuries!

All Malaysian I meet as well as Singaporean call Indonesian as indon..

It"s the same when native indon call Indonesia Chinese as "cina"

One should be aware of such terminologies that may be insulting to other people. For example, in Japan the old way of referring to Korean person was "Chosenjin", but Korean people consider that term as very racist and demeaning because that was the term was used during the colonial days. It is highly insulting to the ears of Koreans to hear the word "Chosenjin".

Younger generation of Japanese do not use the word 'Chosenjin' anymore simply because of that insult correlation; thus now we refer to Korean people as "Kankukojin". It is more neutral.

For Filipinos, the term Pinoy is not insulting, but the word 'Flip' is quite insulting especially for the Filipino-Americans.

There is a reason for that; you have a proper system of law with established logic and a philosophy to give the accused a chance to prove their innocent. In KSA and most Gulf nations (except Dubai, Bahrain and Oman), it is sharia. One word is final law. Even if they cannot find evidence against an accused, they frame them for blasphemy and execute them.
I didn't know until I read up hundreds of experiences and accounts of people, talked to some of them online. Simply because part of India where I belong to, doesn't really have expat population abroad, except a handful of ethnic nepali origin people (Nepalis are common between Nepal and India so many are Indians as well, just FYI ).

Most go there as domestic help or labourers who are not educated and heartless recruitment agencies that make money from them don't tell them anything about passport snatching and stuff.

Once the passport is taken; they become slaves as they have no way to prove their nationality (India, Pakistan, SL, Bangladesh, Nepal etc have linguistic, cultural and appearance similarities so much so that there is no way to differentiate them without proper documents). So embassies will refuse help without official documents. Some poor people who manage to gain knowledge, use many means to actually find help.

This is personally why I hate our system of democracy (not true democracy) which didn't do anything to develop our country for 60+ years. Had we been strong like you; none of our people would have to go to work there.

It is not a secret that some domestic workers double as a sexx slave. But even then, the slave masters must employ some strategy of getting them to bed, rewarding them for their service instead of raping.

In Singapore, I see many single expatriate holding hands with a village-looking pinoy/Indonesian...etc, obviously, the lady first came here as domestic worker.

I also heard from one friend that his white man has a mistress who was formerly his pinoy maid. Many domestic workers in Singapore ended up screwing bangla and Indian migrant labors during weekends and parted after one of them fly back home.

It seems so easy to screw domestic workers.

Is there something wrong when I said that my previous customer is a member of Indonesian version of NSA........? I dont know what kind of business you have..........? Some business sells knowledge and training, so they deal with so many people and organisation. And if we do it in Jakarta, so the clients can be vary.

I just give a fact that such organisation exist. The last name of the organisation if I am not mistaken is called "Yudha." Many Indonesian dont know it, but if you have connection into some people working in high level position in Indonesian defense ministry, you will know it.
