Saudi Arabia publicly beheads woman in Mecca

The sentence was warranted due to the severity of the crime, says The Saudi Ministry of the Interior.

SAUDI ARABIA: Saudi Arabian authorities on Friday beheaded a woman in Mecca with the use of a sword, after being dragged through the street and held down by four police officials, The Independent reported.

Laila Bint Abdul Muttalib Basim of Burmese origin, resided in Saudi Arabia and was convicted of sexual abuse and the murder of her seven year-old step daughter.

The Saudi Ministry of the Interior, in a statement said that the sentence was warranted due to the severity of the crime.

“This woman was beheaded without painkillers – they wanted to make the pain more powerful for her,” said Muhammed al Saeedi, a human rights activist as he explained the two ways in which people are beheaded.

“One way is to inject the prisoner with painkillers to numb the pain and the other is without the painkiller,” he informed.

The kingdom has been part of this alarming trend which has witnessed the executions of seven people in the first two weeks of the new year. 2014 saw the number of beheadings rise to 87 from 78 in the previous year.

A video showed how it took three blows to complete the execution, while the woman screamed “I did not kill. I did not kill.” It has now been removed by YouTube as part of its policy on “shocking and disgusting content”.

Further criticism of the kingdom’s human rights record was prompted following Laila’s beheading.

Saudi blogger, Raif Badawi was sentenced to 1000 lashes and 10 years imprisonment for creating a secular website, liberal in nature.

Badawi was due to receive the second set of 50 lashes today for insulting Islam, but this had been postponed on medical grounds.

Human Rights Watch and Amnesty both condemned his sentence and Amnesty has launched a campaign to have the blogger released.

A number of crimes in the country are subjected to punishment by the means of capital punishment.

If this is true, the person who was in-charge of her beheading must be prosecuted and punished severely.

Man.The lady was Burmese origin .And noone in Saudi gonna prosecute that Saudi officer that hit her.Their laws and their land.
Even US cant do anything about it.

You are right.

It will be 100 % true. There had been many beheading in past. This is totally uncivilized and brutal. However some fake people who see offend in small matters conviniently observes silent or indirectly support this uncivilized act. For example see the post above yours.

Brothers,

If some one killed someone, he or she must be killed, and its only prerogative of victims family that they want execution or forgive the criminal.

WTF?
Saudis are going to have a painful head, a REAL PAINFUL DEATH

That is probably one of the least painful and quickest way to put to sleep. It is at-least quicker than hanging, electrocuting and venomizing.

On a side note, do you know what happend in USA when they used their latest lethal injection to put a person to permanent sleep? The person stayed active for ~35 minutes, even tried to sit down and talk. Then they closed the witnesses' view to the scene and did "something" to him. Victim died after roughly 55 minutes and receiving 2 major heart-attacks. That was a "quick and least painful way" of putting somebody to sleep - NOT!

See the latest execution lasted 18 minutes. Crazy as it can possibly be.

Want to know about electrocuting? You probably don't!

Is it islamic?

Brother,

Islam believes that killing someone means killing whole humanity, and according to Islam that if some one kill some one then he should be punished in a manner, that others dont even think of killing someone.

Islam deal with crime not criminals.
