RSAF F16-D, Indian Air Force conduct Joint Military Training

SINGAPORE: The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) and the Indian Air Force (IAF) have been conducting a Joint Military Training (JMT) since October 14.

The Ministry of Defence said the training at Kalaikunda Air Force Station, India, will end on the December 9.

The RSAF has deployed F16-D+ fighter aircraft, RBS-70 missile system fire units and PSTAR radar to join the IAF's MiG-27, MiG-21 and Hawk MK 132 fighter aircraft for this year's training.

The training is conducted under the Bilateral Agreement between both air forces.

The Agreement signed in 2007 provides for the conduct of joint military training and exercises in India.

Mindef says it's also a valuable opportunity for the two air forces to interact and train together under realistic and challenging conditions.

The training also helps to enhance interoperability and foster closer rapport and understanding amongst the personnel of both air forces.

we already learned

You don't learn a platform by having a few exercises or having a pilot or two seconded to the RSAF. There is this common perception that if one gets to sit in the aircraft or fly against it, all the know how about that particular aircraft can be had.

What about employment solutions, tactics etc. employed by the respective air forces? The use varies across the air forces.

India,s closist ally the iraeli air force fly over 300 F16s for last 30 years. Everything from block a to the latest F16 sufi

I dont think the IAF will learn anything new regarding tactics, doctrine, technology or potential threat from singpore.

Nobody has deployed or utilised the F16 better than israel to date..

That is not entirely true. The USAF has done a much better job in multi-role tasking of the aircraft. The IDF has had good successes with the F-16 against 2nd generation aircraft but that experience is fairly dated now.

Seems more focused on surface attack with RBS involved and platforms such as Mig-23 and Mig-21 being fielded. F-16 being a MR platform can very easily do a very good job in surface attack exceeding the performance of dedicated surface attack platforms from earlier generations. However as with all exercises, I am sure there is some dissimilar combat training as well.

1. Its not our first exercise with F16 as you also know and not the last too. we will have more and more exercise to at different places, environments and tactics.

The element of surprise by the capacities-capabilities or completely not knowing is not there with F16 is now gone out of the window. We just have to sharp our skills and practice more and more with it.

2. And about employment solutions, tactics etc. obviously we are not practicing with PAF so how can we know it?? But it doesn't low down the value addition to the knowledge and know how of the enemy's prime asset.

And for more inside details into PAF and its (about employment solutions, tactics etc.) we are HUMINT, TECHINT etc. as its a normal practice.
