Romania, Honduras recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital

JERUSALEM — The leaders of Romania and Honduras have announced they will recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, following the lead of President Donald Trump.

Romanian Prime Minister Viorica Dancila and Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez delivered their announcements Sunday at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee’s annual conference in Washington. The announcements were welcomed by Israeli politicians.

Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and moved the U.S. Embassy to the city, a move that was applauded by Israel. Guatemala followed suit.

The move angered the Palestinians, who seek east Jerusalem as capital of a future state.

Most countries have embassies in Tel Aviv out of sensitivity over the contested city.
The Palestinians, and most of the international community, say the city’s final status should be resolved in negotiations.

Romanian PM Says Country’s Embassy in Israel to Be Moved to Jerusalem

24.03.2019

CHISINAU (Sputnik) – Romanian Prime Minister Viorica Dancila said Sunday that the country’s embassy in Israel will be moved from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

"I am pleased to announce today to the audience of the AIPAC [American Israel Public Affairs Committee] that, after completing the analysis by all constitutional actors involved in the decision-making process in my country, and with full agreement, I, as the prime minister of Romania, and the government I lead, will move the Romanian embassy to Jerusalem, the capital of Israel," Dancila said as quoted by her press service.

She noted that Israel and the United States were "special strategic partners of Romania."

Both Israel and Palestine see Jerusalem as their capital, and the status of the city has long been regarded as a matter that must be resolved through a Palestinian-Israeli peace process. In May, the United States decided to relocate its embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, provoking a backlash in Palestine, the Arab world and a number of other nations.

From British inspired dream's of a single independent and unified Arab state stretching from Syria in the north to Yemen in the South to that... Sad.

I suppose India will also recognize Jerusalem as Israeli capital?

Or is India only an ally on paper?
They were more successful than us in navigating this conflict. They won't recognize the capital because they are smarter and they will hold on to the support of palestinians.

What kind of a success is that? That sounds more like appeasing one side at the expense of the other.

If India truly proclaims to be an Israeli ally it would stand shoulder to shoulder with Israeli claims. How can India that receives military support and high tech weapons from Israel not recognise Jerusalem as Jewish capital?

Pakistan's stance is crystal clear. We only have one favourite hence got nothing to lose.

Romania is a basket case.

Ruled by Muslims for centuries, they suffer from the same insecurities as Hindus do in India.

Hondurus - don't know what's with them.

Two insignificant countries helping a third for some US military and economical aid..

Anything for money...

Honduras is insignificant. They know that the Arabs wouldn't care about their support. The same is true for Romania.
