What's new

Rice exports surge 48.6pc in two months FY20

Seems 100% good news

  • 322 Million Dollars > 223 Million Dollars

We earned more, we exported out more food 200 metric tones more

Hopefully we keep an eye out for food people need locally so no shortages are created

i am living here in Pakistan for whole my life and know what is condition of our public at present and high rate of joblessness prevailing here,if production of rise is increased or new rice mills are setup which result in increase in employment only then it will be actual improvement in this sector
Do you even live in Pakistan?

i think major reason is not economic growth but inflation and rupee devaluation due to which domestic consumption has decreased and it also shows a risk of undernourishment of our poor class due to lower spending on food
You are wrong here and speaking contrary to princioles of economics. Its not like that we export excess production. Exports are always profitable so as soon as you get order u export them. If there is a shortage there will be a price hike in lacal markets.

The reason is most likely devaluation where rice of Pakistan is more affordable outside and hence got more orders.

inflation has forced people to switch to alternative of rice which are cheap such as wheat and other cereals which may be one factor of rise in exports, inflation is not only limited to one product it effects multiple products, the problem is not limited to rice, inflation effects all products and it is not due to shortage but due to other factors like taxes and fuel prices etc

Like èxport orders are available at will. And if local population is not buying we can sell them internationally at will.

By the way do u have any local export consumption data and record before making all these big claims?

In my own case our family has reduced consumption of rice this year as compared to last year as one of supplier of rice who previously supplied us rice bags at lower cost has setup restaurant business in china and supplying rice there and now cost of similar bag of rice is much higher for us

Joblessness is high in Pakistan because we don't have "Skilled Labour" Jobs
These skilled labour (Private contractor) jobs are created when people do the renovation of their homes and property

This kind of skill trades can create 10-20 million worker Jobs, in western world large population works in these skill areas and they charge a decent amount to make living

People don't go University for it they instead go to Professional Training Centers to learn the work by "Hand"

Each category hires its own specialist, and this creates millions of Jobs

Due to Lack of Property Management Laws , the Properties in Pakistan remain crumbling status , and look horrible (Appartment buildings , Homes unpainted etc) . And also many people remain out of job

Western world each year, 100-200 million homes do fixes to their homes so it employs large number of people in Private Sector in one country

Also appartment Buildings are required to have "a company" maintain the property i.e Keeping elevators functioning , Keeping Carpet cleaned , washing building and windows once a year , looking after all electrical wiring and ensureing all property code are followed

Now u got it right. So first he started exporting and there is a local shirtage as a which there is an increase in price of rice. But this increase is not going to tax authorities as agriculture is tax exempt. It means the higher price margin is going to traders and growers which means more profit and in the next year more farmers will grow rice ... this is how economics works ... this is known as economic cycle of boom and recession ... it has nothing do with tax as sector is tax exempt

Thanks for sharing. People here starts making big claim contrary to the on ground facts

these stats of rise in consumption are also related to rise in population and are upto year 2018 ,for year 2019 I expect they will decrease as trend of consumption is expected to go down ,the problem of low consumption is for poor people and small children who need food for growth

There are no laws regarding skilled professional in Pakistan. Any boy can go to a senior tradesman and after sometime of training, starts working on his own without any certificate.

I have said there are two factors inflation and devaluation. Inflation decreases domestic consumption and hence export increase also devaluation attracts new markets to buy your products and some rise in dollars term may occurs

I understood what you said. But domestic produce shouldn't have been made expensive by the traders, the Rupees value against the dollars doesn't make any difference for local produce. Government should have stricter control over prices and charge those traders who are making extra money on that basis.
Export could increase due to lower conversion rate against the dollar, making products more competitive in international markets. It could be also due to better crops. But whatever the underline causes, the fact is that rice export has gone up in quantity and value both.

Sorry ... i think there are ... there are laws for working in all technical jobs such as engineer, doctoe, chartered accountant, lawyer, driver ...

Issue is with the medium tier structure ... the skills r lomited at supervsiors level
