A little chaos may be good at this time in the Middle East to make subsequent rearrangements easier.

forgive me but your comments remind me of the Farangi's
who always see Opportunity and profit in a conflict or war (aka chaos in this case)

Not that there is anything wrong with seizing opportunities or making profits, but my comments are more in the political realm rather than the monetary.

I meant exactly that but that was the closest reference I could find. also i find nothing wrong with Farangi philosophy. they are survivors and continue with their goals despite how other races judge them.

putting the same thinking hat, I was a bit excited and optimistic about possible Iran-US cooperation no matter how little regarding the ISIS threat, I know Americans generally see them as their natural allies but looking at some Americans who are roughly called Neo-Cons and Iranian Ayatullah blowhards its a bit too much to expect. (case in point, Uncle Sam didnt even bother checking with Riyadh, does it see it as a cause for ISIS? hmmm!!)

There are no natural or permanent allies and friends or antagonists and enemies where national interests are concerned. USA will work with or without any nation in the region to further national interests. Even Iran.

I thought the same when ISIS made the first series of dramatic gains.

As ISIS ground down towards Baghdad, US-Iran overtures also ground to a hault.

I don't think USA could ever dump KSA/pak in favor of Iranian ayatullahs.

Hi,

A little chaos beneficial "---that myth was busted in the aftermath of 2002---when the u s militry was not ready to finish the job by letting the al qaeda escape---.

That little chaos turned into a monster---. The in middle east may have more potent weapons than the al qaeda in afg and pk---ie the threat of ground to air missiles---. For that reason---you did not see any americn air strikes when ISIS attacked iraq.

Next---the russians are itching to take a shot at the american soldiers----they re openly taunting and intimidting the the u s to strike them. Now that would be an interesting match----u s soldiers fighting real army.

Now---when it comes to pakistan----the U S is being slapped every single time it wants to take step against pakistan----events happen in the middle east----that the u s has more need of pakistn than ever before---.
