If I'm not mistaken taliban ruled afghanistan before US invasion right?
Oh man stop killing these people and tell them to stop fighting.
Only Pakistan was the one to start negotiations in murree and we still get blamed : |

How can we negotiate with a group that does not accept the constitution, kills innocent people and wants to implement a hardline religious system that no muslim can bear to live in other than the Taliban themselves. The taliban are a major threat to us and should be dealt with harshly. There is no way around this.

Great question and a sane question but it seems this question eluding most of your compatriots in Pakistan. They think Afghan Talis in Afghanistan will best serve Pakistani interests, NO they won't, their next destination will be Pakistan and will be lashing these pant wearing keyboard warriors for not having long beards and wearing western pants.

Pathetic logic.

last time they served us well . :DGeneral Hameed Gul used to the chief guest on national parades in Afghanistan from 96 - 01 . The only air link they had was with Saudi Arabia and us. But i wouldnt want the same to happen to you guys again . :) . Are you old enough to remember that time ?

Have you forgotten Swat and how Pakhtoon girls were flagged outside? I have the videos on youtube but the honour in me demands I dont post them, so instead of telling us how Hamid Gul or Colonel Imam ( who shot later by TTP ) did grandly for Pakistan, you should watch those videos first.

Like i said i dont want that to happen to Afghanistan. The flogging videos were fake btw. Swat was a political decision by the government to lure all militants in swat and then finish all of them . It didn't 'magically' fell into their hands.

Yeah And?
Good luck taking down the taliban then friend,I don't see Afghanistan with peace.
Isn't it some decade now that the fighting is going on?
Remember that I always say on this forum : Pakistan always had strong and peaceful roots and a free society ,I'm a testament to that as people consider the northern areas of Pakistan not so "free society" even though my place chitral never even had a single bullet fired by some extremist,There were foreigners there when security situation was totally crap and still do visit.
What i'm trying to say is that see after zarb-e-azb completes Pakistan will become a peaceful country like it was Pre 2003 terror free.
Now do you think the same roots are in Afghanistan?? I don't think soo me friend.

So
In fact when I read that Taliban captured some afghan soldiers and told them to stop fighting their muslim brothers and let them go unscratched tells me those men have some sanity ,How else are you going to stop the civil war?
It is a civil war right? and talibans fight a guerilla war even that guerilla war qualities as "Righteous" or not I don't care.
All I care is about a prosperous peaceful afghanistan that borders my country to the west and we cannot live in a region where one country India is our enemy and other country afghanistan is at war.
That is the reason why every Pakistani leader wants "afghanistan me Aman" as they say themselves.

Pathetic logic

How is Hekmat Yaar doing after being exonerated honorably and allowed to keep his private militia and weapons by Afghan Govt?

If Afghan govt. can negotiate with him, it can also negotiate with other Taliban.

Believe it or not, "good Talis" and "bad Talis" do exist...ask USA who coined this term in the first place.

Well there are dark times in any country's history . Blacks didnt get to sit with the white folks in United states even as late as 1970 's. IRA was bombing UK left and right all throughout 80's and 90's . I am sure neither americans or british will fondly remember those times. Swat deal was the same for us. It was a political decision by PPP at the time to have a deal with them .Not many Pakistani's would like to remember that because it was a bad decision .

The good thing was we learned from our mistakes .

I don't know dude, why dont you ask him he is currently in Shamshatoo camp in Peshawar and from there he signed the agreement :) ( no trolling this serious fact )

As for Talis, they door is open for the like it was for Hekmatyar.

Good that you have finally started to listen to what Pakistan has been saying all along.

Talk with Talibans, this is the only way forward. They are too powerful to be defeated by Dostum & co..

Perhaps if Afghanistan, or should I say the current leadership of Afghanistan offers us the olive branch the sentiment for/supporting the Afghan Taliban might end. If you compare the current belligerence of the Afghan leadership with the Taliban regime you will find that the Taliban ignored the issue of the Durand line and there were no single skirmishes on the border during their rule. The current government and the Karzai one have raised Durand line again. I have talked about the hostility of various Afghan governments like Daood Khan's towards Pakistan extensively. If you think from the Pakistani perspective you will note why my fellow countrymen feel this way and side with a group as evil as the Afghan taliban.

Treat us as an ally and the sentiment for the Afghan Taliban will disappear. Also US forces are leaving and the Afghan taliban are still not ending violence. Now they do not have the excuse of foreign occupation left. I think Afghanistan has to take some steps-even sacrifice its growing relationship with India to create goodwill between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Is that so? Interesting take! And pray, do educate us all on this a bit more!
