Renault wants a manufacturing Plant in Pakistan: French Senator

Renault and Man can benefit if they install plants in Pakistan in timely manner since the demand for trucks will go up multifold after the CPEC becomes fully operational and the early bird will have an edge.

Salaam

Hope they aet up a manufacturing plant instead of an assembly plant. But either would be welcome.

Good news.

Hope we can get out of this economic mess and move towards calmer seas soon.

Good news. This will help push Suzuki and Toyota to provide us improved and more upto date cars. However we should push for maximum % of production within Pakistan to help related industries.

I have heard that agreement with Japanese car manufacturers was based on % of total production transferred to Pakistan which they complied but the transfer was for only low ended/less value parts which in turn didn't help local industries as it should. (maybe someone from auto industry can confirm if its true or not)

Pak need to be sensible with all the TNCs that wants to establish in country... They have wreaked havoc in other poor and developing states specially Africa

In USA no one buys a Renault over a Toyota/Honda

Thats means end of japanies scrap called cars...

It is not that straightforward. They are still entrenched in Pakistan, but their monopoly will be challenged.

We need more brands entering Pak market. The more the better for the consumer.

We need to force automobile makers to bring quality cars to Pakistan. Not their B quality vehicles. The money they charge for B quality vehicles in Pakistan one can buy A quality models in Western countries.

Production should be in Pakistan and the plant in Pakistan should export at least a minimum of 50% of what Pakistanis will buy.
Industries are often located where there's cheap labour. overall costs are low and the location is strategic... Pakistan alone is the sixth largest country in terms of population and with CPEC, it will touch 70% of the global population. All government needs to provide is a consistent & transparent set of policies, one window ops and security.
