I think Pakistan and Afghanistan should leave the past behind and work together to root out the extremists elements from our countries. Pakistan made a huge mistake morally/strategically with the support we gave to the mujahideen (modern day Taliban). Would it have made any difference on the ground if we stayed out? Most likely not as this was a proxy war between two superpowers and everyone else being just mere pawns, but at least we wouldn't have been part of creating such a mess.
