A one-time CIA contractor who was freed by Pakistan after a multi-million dollar "blood money" payoff was arrested this morning in Highlands Ranch after an apparent altercation over a parking spot.

Raymond Davis, 36, was arrested by Douglas County Sheriff's deputies on misdemeanor charges of third-degree assault and disorderly conduct after the incident outside an Einstein Bagels at the Town Center in Highlands Ranch at about 8 a.m.

Davis was released after posting a $1,750 bond, the sheriff's office said.

Davis and his family had just moved to the Denver suburb in January when he left Colorado for Pakistan, where he became involved in an international incident. On Jan. 27 in the city of Lahore, Davis shot and killed two men who he said were trying to rob him.

After his arrest, U.S. officials said Davis should be released because he carried a diplomatic passport and was protected under diplomatic immunity.

Davis was eventually freed in March after, in accordance with an Islamic law, the victim's families granted him a pardon in exchange for $2.34 million in compensation. Government officials, including Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, have said the U.S. did not make the payment.

It was later revealed that Davis was a former member of the U.S. Special Forces and was employed by the private security firm Blackwater. He reportedly owns a security company called Hyperion Protective Consultants, which is contracted to do work for the government.

In Saturday's incident, according to the sheriff's office, Davis and another man had been arguing with a 50-year-old man about the parking space when things turned physical. The injured man was treated and released at the scene.

Davis is scheduled to appear in Douglas County court Monday morning.

Contractor freed after Pakistan incident arrested in Highlands Ranch - The Denver Post

I'd swear that guy suffers from some paranoia that he turns to violence every time he gets into problems with people. Look how it cost 3 innocent men their lives. I wish we'd executed him and done the Americans a favor by putting a psycho out of his misery. If the Americans threatened to cut off aid we should have placed an embargo on their supplies to Afghanistan but we have instead given up. Sucks.

I wonder what the pro-Western/Indian fifth columnist Irfan Husain would have to say about this. he defended Davis immediately without knowing what exactly happened.
