China Rare Earth Exports to Japan Surged Six Times in December
China Rare Earth Exports to Japan Surged Six Times in December - Bloomberg

China’s rare earth exports to Japan rose more than six times in December from a month earlier.

China’s shipments to Japan climbed to 4,081 tons in December from 633 tons in November, according to a report released yesterday by Japan’s Finance Ministry.

China’s restrictions on rare earth supplies to the rest of the world have led to surging prices and prompted Japanese companies including Toyota Motor Corp. to find alternative ways to seek the resource. Exports of rare earths from China fell 9.3 percent last year, according to China customs data. The country accounts for more than 90 percent of the world’s supply of rare earths.

But yet Western Media keep insisting that China placed an export ban on these Rare Earth

To be honest I would rather America start mining their own rare earths, not only is it dirty, it is also very expensive business. China could do with less polution and keep more of it to ourselves which we will soon require a lot of as the country becomes less dependent on industrialisation.
Countries such as America and Japan has enough rare earths, they are simply hording them for their future needs.

We should completely ban rare earth mining in China.

And send our companies to mine in California.

We should keep just enough, in order to fuel our own domestic industries. This will prevent others from shutting off the supply in difficult times.

Other than that, the entire export industry can go overseas, and other countries are welcome to ruin their own environment, in return for almost non-existent profits.

China has actually been looking to buy those companies.

Not to mention unprofitable. Chinese REM companies lost money 7 years in a row. China produced 90% of the world supply and yet was unable to control prices. What a shitty monopoly that was.

The sooner they reduce sale drastically the better. It's not like we depend on the sale for a living.

Nothing about the article says there wasnt, if the ban was on in November and almost nothing was shipped its very easy in December if the ban was removed to ship six times as much as the previous month.

Really just comparing two months export of a comodity is useless all you need is a train to break down or a ship be delayed and you can get wild fluctuations.

The point is the rare earth metal market barely jumped. If people that had money at stake thought this was manufactured BS from the Japanese media, I tend to agree. You can almost always count on the smart money in the market to tell you the truth.
