- Reaction score
Agreed, They are being reactionary. They have to become proactive now; better late than never. It seems PTI is one step behind the haramis
They might as well go for an international campaign of building support for their movement, but for that they need to emphasize the universal parts of their message and say how hard it is when even the police have become politicized and are undermining the rule of law. There are many leftist governments and leftist parties around the world (such as in Latin America, and parts of Europe) that would support a Pakistani movement that espouses universal values. This is why the PTI needs to strengthen its left wing.
They also need a message to counter the expected arguments of submitting to the law, when there is clear evidence of ill treatment of senior PTI political prisoners in the past few months when they were taken into custody.
IK needs a way to uphold the rule of law and submit himself to the authorities so when the PTI wins they can uphold the law and not appear hypocritical in anyway. In a world of social media, and a global aversion to martial law, being imprisoned would strengthen IK not weaken him, should it come to that.
The speeches of Nelson Mandela are a good example of a way to find a way to craft a globally appealable message. “Let there be Justice for all, Let there be Peace for all.” -Nelson Mandela
A good first step would be to say all cases against all politicians would be decided by the courts and he would move on from calling out the other parties. The nation needs to focus on the large diversion of national resources currently used to subsidize the greed of the few and not meet the needs of the many. There needs to be a message of hope to even those amongst the elite, that they will benefit as well, and that in exchange for a loss of privilege they will prosper like never before and be free of guilt, like the white South Africans.
Thankfully it’s not as bad as it was in South Africa vis a vis the rule of law, but a movement to reform and strengthen the state on the right foundation is what Mandela did as well as what IK hopes to do, so Mandela is probably a good inspiration, especially if imprisoned. Imprisonment would also strengthen PTI mechanism of succession and rule post-IK.
