The Rapid Action Battalion director general Benazir Ahmed on Friday said since the Kashmir issue was an internal issue of India, stern legal action would be taken if anyone tries to create any trouble in Bangladesh.
‘Kashmir issue is internal issue of India. We do not have comment on it. And the number of ultra-Islamists is a few and they are under round the clock our surveillance,’ Benazir told reporters at the RAB media centre in reply whether Kashmir issue would fuel Bangladeshi extremism.
‘We believe no one conscious will try to muddy the waters over the issue in our country…And those who will try to create any trouble will face harder prosecution.’
India has revoked Kashmir’s autonomy by scrapping Article 370 of its constitution. The decision has triggered protest even in Bangladesh.
The RAB organised the press conference detailing their security plans during Eid-Ul-Azha and National Mourning Day to be observed on August 12 and August 15 respectively.
Asked whether it was failure of the RAB in tracing the missing ex-commanding officer of RAB 7 Hasinur Rahman, the RAB chief replied that they were aware of the incident but it was not the failure of any unit when it could not find anyone out as people went missing for different reasons.
A group of people wearing vests inscribed ‘DB’ had whisked Hasinur onto a microbus at highly secured Defence Officers’ Housing Society in Mirpur on August 8, 2018.
Meanwhile, Monirul Islam, the chief of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, at a separate press conference in DMP media centre also said that although Kashmir was an internal issue of India but each of global incidents has impact on the global extremism.
Monirul said the attack on New Zealand mosque was apparently revenged by the attack on hotels in Sri Lanka.
