Legally mid-term elections would happen only if more than 50% of the total members resign.

If PTI resigns from KPK then they would seal their political fate: By being part of the KPK govt. PTI can engineer a Federation vs KPK conflict and even turn that into an ethnic conflict. So even if they run KPK and get sacked they can still claim to be 'victims'. However, by resigning they will give away the leverage--their biggest leverage.
