Psychiatric patients anyone...

This is serious, please watch and inform people around you

Dude, what the video shows, is different than the reality. The way you posted this, it sounds like you are telling others psychiatry is a stupid, useless field lol. Are you sure you want to discuss this? I can literally write a book on this subject.

Allow me to highlight some of the issues that the video doesn't really show as its made by some anti-pharmaceutical type person or group.

1) Is it true that this psychiatry is all bull crap? NO! It is because of psychiatry that millions of people with mental illnesses are able to live somewhat normal lives, instead of just being disabled and going to what used to be a "mental house" or "mental facility"

2) The pharmaceutical companies LITERALLY spend BILLIONS on R&D. So they have to make their money in return. It is a business but the purpose is to save lives and it works.

3) Human Brain is the most complex machine and most advanced processor ever built. Its a little bigger than an APPLE but yet controls a human's entire body, every cell and years of memory and decision making. So you are dealing with the MOST COMPLEX yet MOST COMPACT machine ever built.

With so much complexity comes ......complex maintenance also. Unlike a Coronary Artery blockage or Kidney pain or Stomach ulcers, it is almost impossible to take brain scans that can tell you why someone's head hurts or why someone had a seizure due to Epilepsy or non-Epilepsy or Depression or Bi-Polar, etc

Such a complex machine also means, a small mistake can end a human life.....comma or permanent paralysis as the brain controls the entire body and can shut down itself or part of the body or the entire body in certain situations.

So unlike Stomach ulcers or Bone fracture or Kidney pain, doctor's don't have the ability to see billions of neurons working together due to their size (and these Neurons are invisible to human eye and can't really be examined by Microscope).

Plus, human brain works with a few key Neurotransmitters that control a human's mental and physical state. Your mental illnesses are caused by deficiency in these chemicals or reduced levels of these chemicals. But there is no such "scan" or a "test" that can tell you why a human is behaving the way he is. In a Chest pain or Stomach Ulcer or Kidney pain, you can pin point, take a scan and literally see where the issue is. In brain, you are talking about billions of complex neurotransmitters that work together and can't be "seen" in anyway shape of form.

So....when you hear people in this video talk about, "my son got worse" or "he tried to commit suicide" or "the darkness grew darker".....this doesn't mean that its all a scam or Brain related Medical Science is all bull crap.

It means that due to brain being so SMALL and so COMPLEX, the medication given to the patient may not be the right one (it is the case 99% of the time for a fee months). The mental hygiene works with a few key brain chemicals, and a doctor has to try a few medications before something "clicks" with the patient as everyone's different. That's why the patients are told to stay in close contact with the doctors until the medication suits them and they become "normal".

Until you get the right medication, it's unfortunately a tough process. Another issue is, unlike a typical anti-biotic or pain killer or anti-diarrhea medication (which usually start to work within 45 minutes), the mental medicines take about 3 weeks to kick in. Brain chemicals need a medication's bio-availability through maintaining a constant blood level. So the patient expects something to kick in within 45 minutes like Stomach pain or anything else, but he or she has to wait for three weeks before the medication can give them results (and that is, if the medication given suits their brain). This process is NOT made by pharmaceutical manufacturers, this is how human brain works. Sometimes the first or second medication start to work right away. Usually, the second or the third medications click with the patient so there is that two month worth of wait before you see results and that's long unfortunately.

I hope anyone reading this realizes that messing with the brain means a lot of sensitive damage, resulting in a lot of issues for patients. So PLEASE if you are reading this and have seen this video and you are on SOME medication for a mental illness, PLEASE DO NOT stop taking your meds. I personally know patients who stop taking meds all of a sudden and then there is a relapse which can result in someone losing their life or getting hospitalized for a long time. Please talk to your doctor before changing or stopping your medication.

@WebMaster @Horus guys - this is a very serious topic. Someone watching the above video can get a wrong impression about psychiatric treatment as a scam, and which would result in further sickness or symptoms getting worse in case someone decides to stop taking their medication. Please watch these kinds of threads carefully.

I didn't pass any judgement, just shared what I thought may be a good source of information. People can decide for themselves.

My post wasn't anything against your OP. I happen to deal with cases on daily basis where people going through depression and other mental disorders decided to stop taking their meds without consulting with their doctors (as they thought it was all a scam). And that didn't end up well for them, they ended up spending thousands of dollars in hospital stays due to relapse and a very disruptive life for many months, if not years (until their meds kicked in again).
So my post wasn't towards you as individually, my post is to ensure that people know that brain science is actually the most complex branch of human health and in the medical field, and that patients shouldn't see a video and try to stop their meds and disrupt their lives all of a sudden.

I didn't took that personally but thanks for your post and concerns.
