SILCHAR: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has asked Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal to ensure that non-Muslims who fled religious persecution in Bangladesh and Pakistan on or before December 31, 2014, are exempted from the provisions of the Foreigners Act in accordance with a Union home ministry notification issued on September 7, 2015.

Bhagwat, who is visiting the Barak Valley, had a closed-door meeting with Sonowal at the RSS office in Silchar on Saturday. Their 25-minute discussion centered on the Centre's proposal to reintroduce the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, to protect Hindu, Sikh, Christian, Jain, Parsi and Buddhist refugees excluded from the National Register of Citizens, sources said.

RSS, BJP and various Sangh Parivar affiliates have taken up cudgels on behalf of around 19 lakh people left out of the NRC, saying they are mostly Bengali Hindu migrants whose families fled the erstwhile
East Pakistan
to escape religious persecution.

Bhagwat and several BJP leaders have said on various occasions that the 2015 home ministry notification should be followed till such time the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill is passed in Parliament.

Salaam

I wonder what the Bangladeshis would feel when they realise that to the RSS guys -who are now fully in control of India- a Muslim is a Muslim - whether Indian, Bangladeshi or Pakistani.

Wa Alaikum Assalam.
Many Bangladeshis realises this.
However it's the regime stooges & other such people who remain blind to this glaringly simple fact.

But you have lectured everyone in your neighbourhood about how strong democracy is in Bangladesh and how Bangladeshis have always been forebearers of democratic principles.

Hasina represents you completely

Bangladesh's freedom to think and decide has been compromised. Thanks to Hassina for that.

They are now living in an era where hate drives them more than sensibility, but more than that, they don't have a vision or goals where they'd need principles of Islam. They'd be much better off living a-religious, semi-Muslim or acting as a disjointed segment of "culturally Muslim society" who are not bothered when Muslims in India are lynched, killed or enslaved for months. What used to be "Abdullah" in Bangladesh is happily living as "Abdul-Hind".

I had to laugh at that. Who has ever heard of a Parsi refugee? At least not in the last 1000 years.

all parsis yearn of returning to their promised land and do consider themselves refugees After persian empire Fell to the Arabs.

Bangladeshis are under no illusion. The Muslim League did not form in dhaka by acident. The battle for muslim east bengal did not occur in ignorance.

But you have lectured everyone in your neighbourhood about how strong democracy is in Bangladesh and how Bangladeshis have always been forebearers of democratic principles.

Democracy and our muslim identity are not opposing forces. The muslim league was created to achieve mandate from muslims to fight for our interest. Bengal had a parliament whilst being part of the british empire so it is mere historical fact that democracy is far more entrenched in BD than any where in the subcontinent.

Democracy was used to carve a muslim bengal and it was also the primary force that created Bangladesh when Mujib won the democratic mandate and was prevented from forming a Government.

Democracy undepins BD history and it is not only in harmony but the foundation of the Muslim identity.

I am a Buddhist from Bangladesh. I am a minority and so I'm more than qualified to answer the condition of minorities in Bangladesh vs Pakistan.

Bangladesh is good for minorities but in Pakistan minorities are living a life of agony and pain.

In Bangladesh there is complete freedom of religion. Hindus, Buddhists, Christians can build temples, pagodas and churches without problem or interference while in Pakistan there are literally no new hindu temples or churches and the ones which are standing are barred from being renovated.

If anyone has doubt regarding the freedom of religion in Bangladesh can visit Bangladesh during Durga puja and see how festive the entire country is during Durga puja. Also Christmas and Buddhist festivals of Prabarana purnima, Buddha purnima and Christmas are celebrated widely without problem. Can Hindus celebrate Diwali and Holi in Pakistan without being harrassed or without facing restrictions?

In Bangladesh minority holidays have been declared as public holidays. Also Buddhist holiday of Buddha purnima and Christmas are public holiday when Buddhists and Christians are less than 1 percent of the total population of Bangladesh. Compare this to Pakistan where Muslims refuse to recognize minority holidays.

There are more than 2 million tribals in Bangladesh who live mostly in the Chittagong Hill tracts. They have all the opportunity starting from education, representation in jobs, in politics etc. The CHT minister is always a tribal and currently there are 4 tribals in the parliament. Meanwhile in Pakistan the kalash tribal people are being oppressed and forced to follow Islamic values.

In Pakistan Molvis encourage forced conversion of Hindu girls, attack on minorities using blasphemy law and other forms of biases against minorities. In Bangladesh when the rohingya muslims were killed in Myanmar, many Molvis of Bangladesh discouraged attacks on Buddhist minorities living in Bangladesh.

In Bangladesh minorities minorities don't face discrimination in jobs however in Pakistan Christians are required in the cleaning and sanitation department and most Hindus are working as farmers and day labourers in Sindh.

Bangladesh is not perfect as we have too much illiteracy however Bangladesh is not religiously intolerant like Pakistan. Part of the reason why Bangladesh became independent from Pakistan is because of its intolerant policies against minorities which targeted Bengali Hindus specifically.

It's an RSS sanghi Indian who said BD is prosecuting minorities sir.Not a Pakistani. Why are you dragging Pakistan in it?
Instead you should have drawn comparison with the inhuman & terrible situation Indian minorities are facing.

The RSS member said that minorities are oppressed in both Pakistan and Bangladesh. I wanted to point that Pakistan and Bangladesh is not in the same league when it comes to treatment of minorities.

In-fact you are not even in the league to judge how Pakistani minorities are living. You are too far away to comprehend but alas, the heart burns does not allow to speak truth.

Above all, when you are going to login again, make sure you aren't using proxy/vpn and sharing correct flag in regard to your current location.

Take some time off.

Protecting minorities from prosecution is an obligation of an Islamic state under Sharia law.

A dhimmī ( Arabic: ﺫﻣﻲ
ḏimmī , IPA: [ˈðɪmmiː],collectively ﺃﻫﻞ ﺍﻟﺬﻣﺔ ahl ul-ḏimmah/dhimmah "the people of the dhimma")is a historical term referring to non-Muslims living in an Islamic state with legal protection. The word literally means "protected person"referring to the state's obligation under sharia to protect the individual's life, property, and freedom of religion, in exchange for loyalty to the state and payment of the jizya tax, which complemented the zakat,or obligatory alms, paid by the Muslim subjects.

That's the beauty of Islam.
We protect our minorities.Never have we massacred them with impunity like what happened at Gujrat during Modi the butcher's reign. minorities.Neither do we lynch them, nor do we make them recite Shahada at knifepoint.
Yet this two-faced sanghi has the gall to say minorities in Bangladesh & Pakistan needs protection?
