well we were in a cold war with the Soviet Union. but since USSR doesn't exist anymore the bases should of been reduced.

The "Cold War" was an excuse for global hegemony. You chose to have a cold war, not Russia. But that's a long story, and I don't think you are very open to the truth.

I understand the US having bases in places like South Korea and why the South Koreans would use that as a deterrent towards the north but i still do not understand why there are so many US bases in Germany and Japan. In both cases Germany and Japan were defeated in ww2 thereafter the US built a military presence in both countries and has not left since. Some years back i read that the Germans were paying for US expenses in there bases, don't quote me on that though.

We won't because you're wrong.The US pays its own expenses,or is a NATO join effort (so,mainly the US again) and the locals want them there as they're a big boost for the economy of the area.There are bases in Japan because Russia thought it wise to help a demented ,Rogue state like N. Korea stay afloat.

As for that map,yeah,i'm sure there's a base in Kazahstan threathening Russia(at most it could be a supply outpost used for the Afghan intervention),Kaz being a close Russ ally and member of the Eurasian Union.But hey,let's draw a retarded map,it doesn't take much for the fanboys on this forum to be bamboozled,as always.

Btw,countries want to join NATO,nobody is expanding unto them.
