Contraceptives and pregnancy test kits were seized along with explosive material at a deserted Maoist camp near remote Niliguda village in the limits of Podia police station in Malkangiri district.
Sources in Malkangiri district police headquarters alleged that it was a clear proof regarding allegations of sexual harassment of women cadre in Maoist camps. Acting on a tip-off, the personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF), Special Operation Group (SOG), and District Voluntary Force (DVF) raided the Maoist camp.
The Maoist cadres escaped from the spot leaving behind their goods that included ten gelatine sticks, 25 electronic detonators, fuse wire, one tiffin bomb, one solar panel, banners and posters. But for the first time, security forces founded a large quantity of contraceptives at the Maoist camp in Malkangiri district. There were also pregnancy test kits among the seized items, said R.K. Pati, inspector in-charge of Malkangiri police station.
Sexual harassment'
Mr. Pati said seizure of these items indicates sexual harassment in the Maoist organisation.
There have been instances in the past where women cadres of Maoists were found to have undergone sterilisation operation, Mr. Pati added.
Several women Maoists who had surrendered in south Odisha in the past had alleged sexual harassment.

An alleged Maoists was killed in encounter with police today in Bezarpalli area in Sironcha taluka of Gadchiroli district, police said today.
The shoot-out between a group of Maoists and a police platoon lasted about 45 minutes before the extremists fled, said the police.
A body of a Maoists was recovered from the site. Police also claimed that at least four to five naxals must have been wounded seriously.

Police also recovered a 303 rifle, a country-made pistol and 29 rounds besides a grenade.
