PR to get 25 locomotives after Eid

Dont show your stupidity here.. go s... somewhere else.
Turkeys altay uses a german power plant... Indias arjun uses a foriegn power plant... and so on.. just because engines are foriegn doesnt make it an "assembled" product... dont be a ignorant fool.

They still can be manufactured in Pakistan. But in case of locomotives several key Industries are missing -How many manufacturers can supply traction motors, crankshafts, camshafts etc for locos ?

Read my previous posts regarding Risalpur Locomotive factory..

Do they manufacture engine & components I mentioned ?

If they have the capacity to produce 25 locomotives per year im sure they do...

These components are not manufactured by the manufacturer, they are manufactured by other vendors-like traction motors are manufactured by a company that concentrates on 'heavy electrical machines' .

Im sure you know about tht more than the guys at Risalpur or the govt of Pakistan.. or the company that leased the factory?

The Mushhak uses a Lycoming engine. The al-Khalid uses a Ukranian engine.

Why should that be a concern?

Anyways, the news of Risalpur factory being re-activated is really good. In early 70s, Pakistan exported luxury coaches to China. A delegation of writers from Pakistan on visit to China were surprised to find that out. I forget the year of their visit, I think it was in mid to late 70s.

Railway was (still is?) one of the most corrupt departments: overstaffed, inefficient, very corrupt procurement department, etc... The first time PR ticketing was computerised, clerks purposely sabotaged the equipment.

One thing about Sharif brothers is that once they feel they can not handle the level of corruption, they just roll up the whole operation. They did this with Punjab Urban Transport Corporation in the early 90s (?). All the government employees were laid-off. It was the most corrupt department under Punjab Government.

When NS comes to power, the intra-departmental corruption gets reduced to manageable levels. I am not saying anything about their modus operandi in amassing wealth, but just making an observation about how they handle departments. In this case PPP is the absolutely the worst party in government.

These are the real problems, that will destroy the new engines too, no matter where they are made.

G meray bhai. But this time there are two differences. First, the representatives of the Chinese companies are going to oversee maintenance, I suppose til the warranty period lasts (I assume). Second, Kh. Saad Rafiq is unlike the earlier people. Also Sharifi brothers have a certain reputation. They can always opt to force a sell-off. GOE staff dread that happening.

These locomotives will last only if the Chinese oversee maintenance. That would be a major change, if true, unlike the other things you mention. I wonder how long the warranty is for these engines?

Bhai, if I am given charge of Railway, I can set it right. Its not rocket science. Anybody with a degree of competence should be able to do it.

As long as corrupt people get away with it, they would continue doing what they do. All one has to do is to occasionally cut the crap and check the maintenance directly. Not that difficult.

What is truly telling is the fact that, despite being relatively easy as you describe it, it has not bee possible for decades and decades, and indeed growing worse with time. It just goes to show just how pervasive corruption is at all levels in the Railways.
