Poll: Minimum Age For Marriage

How come there isn't a poll for dudes

The article which I read was based on research on child marriage for girls.
The research was gender specific.

So therefore I posted a poll about the minimum age for girls.

I did not justify it. I merely pointed out the problem at hand exists in differant forms across the world. Which is -

• Underage marriage in countries like Pakistan
• Underage sex like in UK

The results are same. Those who cry on about underage marriage often ignore the same problem proliferating under differant social circumstances. But the import is same. Lives reduced, lives destroyed.

Fair enough.

I do think that many who have a problem with underage marriage are feminists who think women cannot do anything wrong and therefore do not want to address problems where women had the freedom but made the wrong decision.

And that is actually hurtful to women.

Because then their behaviour cannot be criticized or corrected, which results in 12 year olds becoming pregnant.

To me, both issues are a problem and need to be eradicated.

Agreed. I see that in UK. You will see these groups shedding tears over underage marriage in Peshwar but ignore the umderage pregnancies and sex that is common even amongst 13 year olds right under their noses in Peterborough.

To be honest all this is bollocks. In UK there is a depressing small town, not too far from me. The average age of marriage is probably 30. So no child marriage here.

But see that 30 year old slapper who just got married? Well, she also celebrated being a grandmother the day after her 'first' marriage. The fact is your average 12 year old girl there has had more sex experiance, more partners then a average 50 year old male in Pakistan. Now go figure?

No child marriage. But lots of teenage pregancies. Go figure !

i don't see the trend dying down until all religions die down...
even if it doesn;t end up being this way, people will invent new legal loopholes like temporary marriage nowadays in some muslim community

Marriage at 21 or more, though a better idea would be to check for financial and emotional maturity before marriage.

They should be taught about safe sex before the age of 12. Till 12-16 years of, only a small age difference should be tolerated so that adults don't start taking advantage. 16-18 year old should be allowed to date max upto 25 years.
After 18, open season I guess.

Islam also said to use your brains and follow logic or common sense.

What good will it do for 13 year old boy and 11 year old girl to marry when they need to finish their education first?

No they are not "Abdus Samad" ............. if we start practicing true Islam today's times, we wouldn't marry our daughters unless they have reached a point where they are financially independent and playing a key role in society.

And Messenger Peace be upon him didn't marry any child. The first wife of Messenger was older than Him, during the currency of that marriage no other women entered into Nikkah with Messenger, after death of first wife, Messenger needed someone to share his domestic burden so that he could freely teach his followers, and Ayesha before entering into Nikkah with Messenger was engaged to someone else. She knowingly took the role of becoming wife, she understood her role and responsibilities and interestingly that marriage has no children. Later Messenger married widows and helpless women to set an example.

I know its not going to convince you ....... but still a rebuttal to your ignorant rant is necessary.
