PML-N grabs Multan's PP 196 seat after heated contest
MULTAN (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has won the by-election on provincial assembly’s seat PP 196 after heated contest, with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on second place and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on third, Dunya News reported.
According to details, PML-N’s candidate Rana Mehmoodul Hassan secured 30,193 votes whereas PTI’s candidate Rana Abdul Jabbar got 19,194 votes and PPP candidate Hussain Arain got 6531 votes.
PML-N workers and supporters celebrated by dancing to the beats of drums and distributed sweets.
It merits mentioning here that the voting remained a battleground the whole day. Supporters from both sides clashed with each other on several occasions.
The polling at polling station number 16 was halted after women clashed there. The clash between supporters and police at women’s polling station was also a routine matter throughout the polling time.
At polling station number 98, the slogan chanting contest between PTI and PML-N workers turned into a sort of wrestling match. Both sides clashed physically and threw punches and kicks at each other.
The process of polling was also suspended because of the clash. In various instances, the policemen on duty were seen taking naps in mosques.
The blatant display of weapons was also widely seen at several polling stations including Timber Market and Rangilpur.
